Devore, San Bernardino, CaliforniaDevore, California — The article is named as if Devore is a part of the city of San Bernardino, California. The few resources I could find point to it being an unincorporated area outside the city limits and thus the article should follow the [City], [State] convention per WP:PLACE#United_States. Google Maps shows "Devore Heights" as an unincorporated box between the city of San Bernardino and the San Bernardino National Forest north of the I-15/I-215 junction, while the San Bernardino city GIS also shows the same area as beyond the city limits. Also, the article links to the website of an organization called the "Devore Rural Protection Association", which claims it has successfully fought two annexation attempts by San Bernardino and will continue to fight annexation. —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:58, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

At first I did mistake it with Devore Heights (Devore Heights is a neighborhood in San Bernardino City, not to be confused with Devore) but I did not change it back because Devore is still an unincorporated area of San Bernardino County. I think it should stay but any thoughts? Maybe a move to Devore, San Bernardino County, California? House1090 (talk) 19:29, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Devore, San Bernardino County, California would be appropriate if there was more than one place called "Devore" in California (cf. the two places called Elgin, South Carolina). If you look at the unincorporated communities listed at San Bernardino County, California#Unincorporated communities the 60 or so such areas that have a WP article follow the [City], [State] convention. The current name would be appropriate if it were a part of the city (cf. Arrowhead Springs, San Bernardino, California, Del Rosa, San Bernardino, California), but as far as I can tell it is not. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kuyabribri (talkcontribs) 8 July 2010
  • Support The proposal is in line with Wikipedia:Naming conventions (geographic names), which states The standard form for municipalities and unincorporated communities in the United States is "Placename, State" (the "comma convention"). The naming conventions, though only a guideline, should be followed unless there is an overwhelming reason to ignore them. "I think it should stay" is not a valid reason. • Support "I think it should stay" was not my reason I wanted to see what Kuyabribri thought about it. Don't get me wrong. I support the move but I saw other unincorporated areas that had the county name in the but if that is not the standard form for naming municipalities then it should be done the formal way. Settlement

edit

When was Devore settled? And how many years between its settlement and incorporation into San Bernardino? pbp 21:26, 12 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes this is in San Bernardino, although it is often refereed to as Devore Heights or even Glen Helen. There isn't much about it I have looked endlessly. House1090 (talk) 21:40, 19 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

The result of the proposal was moved per WP:BRD. This move has already happened as a result of two different RMs, so it should not have been moved unilaterally anyway. I'll move lock it this time. --BDD (talk) 17:35, 29 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Devore, San Bernardino, CaliforniaDevore, California – The article was once again moved without consensus or explanation. Devore does not seem to be in the city of San Bernardino (see the first move request), so the article should be located at "Devore, California" according to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (geographic names).
