Sunni/Shi'a ratio

Eagleamn, why did you undo my change regarding the percentages of Sunni and Shi'a?

The State Department's [International Religious Freedom Report 2004] (2nd external link in the page) has the following relevant information:

its population is approximately 24 million, with an estimated foreign population of 6 to 7 million.

Approximately 2 million citizens are Shi'a Muslims


Now 2 million out of 18 million is 11%. So 11% of Saudis are Shi'a and the rest (89%) are Sunnis.

It's because of huge numbers of male immigrants. That should be stated in the article. Jim Michael (talk) 10:11, 3 March 2018 (UTC)

total: 73.87 years male: 99.93 years female: 99.9 years (2010 est.)

The article is a synthesis of demographic topics, since Saudis are technically members of the House of Saud (and not all the citizens of Saudi Arabia are of Bayt Saud - far from it). The content might be useful for the Demographics of Saudi Arabia however, so merger is proposed. Following the merge, this page should disambiguate to Demographics of Saudi Arabia and House of Saud.GreyShark (dibra) 10:26, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

In English usage, "Saudis" is predominantly a demonym, referring to people from Saudi Arabia or of Saudi Arabian descent. From the article Saudis: "The Saudis, or Saudi Arabians, are the inhabitants or citizens of Saudi Arabia." This is different from the royal family House of Saud (or Al Saud). The corresponding Arabic word to the demonym "Saudis" is سعوديون, Saʿūdiyyūn. It was discussed on Talk:Saudis#Requested move 5 May 2015 already. "Saudis" is very much a separate topic from "Demographics of Saudi Arabia", and deserves its own article. For example, we don't merge Swedes with Demographics of Sweden, or Germans with Demographics of Germany. Khestwol (talk) 14:42, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
