Highest revenue leagues edit

The ten leagues with the highest revenues. Where did that list came from? SantiagoH 15:54, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

The nationalities of the first squad players of the top 20 teams edit

What does that show? Is it even relevant? Sebisthlm (talk) 19:54, 18 February 2008 (UTC) Actually, I'm just going to remove it. Sebisthlm (talk) 19:55, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Updating edit

I believe the new one was just released with manchester united reclaiming the top spot from Real Madrid. —Preceding unsigned comment added by --Gaiushallivar (talk) 13:08, 1 May 2008 (UTC)Gaiushallivar (talkcontribs) 13:06, 1 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

League rankings edit

What does these numbers mean?

They are much too low for all of the clubs in the whole league, bit much too high for an club-average. --Qaywsxedc (talk) 07:23, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

A mess - numbers don't match the references given edit

The tables displayed show different numbers to the ones on the Deloitte links given at the bottom. For the 2006/07 season it also says "No side could displace Real Madrid, who remain top of football's financial rankings" while showing Manchester at the top of the list directly below. What happened??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.224.87.94 (talk) 18:03, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merge with Forbes' list of the most valuable football clubs edit

This tag has been here for a while but no comments or discussion on it. So let's get this over with:

  • Oppose. While similar, these lists focus on different financial aspects of the teams. -- P199 (talk) 17:23, 7 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. as P199 said, each focus on different aspects.--KSAconnect 17:34, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

No merge. -- P 1 9 9 • TALK 13:34, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Accuracy? edit

I'm not sure of the accuracy of the data, for example the Italian Team SSC Napoli had in the 2009/2010 season revenue certificates for 110M € but it's not in the ranking, why? 12:51, 10 Feb 2011 (UTC)

I don't think Derby County F.C. have a higher revenue than the other teams in the list!

Swansea City edit

According to the source (page 9 of the document or page 11 in PDF reader), only England, Italy, Germany, Spain, France and Turkey are listed. Wales is NOT listed. SLBedit (talk) 20:57, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I find some possible original research in the article. It is true that the source provided does not list Wales as a country providing one of the top grossing clubs, but the source also only lists the top 20 clubs while Swansea City is listed at #29 for the 2013–14 season, and #26 for the 2014–15 season; therefore, we cannot be certain from which country Deloitte would represent Swansea City. In fact, all seasons after 2008–09 list more clubs than appear in the referenced source documents, and I cannot quickly locate any documentation to support the inclusion of more than 20 clubs per season. If such documentation can be located and referenced to support their inclusion in the tables, then those clubs should be allowed to remain; otherwise, the addition of those clubs is original research and is improper for inclusion. — Jkudlick • t • c • s 05:30, 21 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
The locations of tables including the additional information were pointed out to me by another editor, so the commenting has all been removed. However, Deloitte still only displays the countries for the top 20 clubs in their lists. I would say that since the club plays in Wales, then it is a Welsh club. The Toronto Raptors are the only Canadian team in the NBA, but they are not referred to as an American basketball team. — Jkudlick • t • c • s 07:25, 21 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Jkudlick: The document of 2016 shows "English clubs in the 2014/15 Money League top 30..." and "the number of Premier League clubs in the top 30". Since the Money League refers to Swansea as both an English club and a Premier League club, never mentioning Wales or "Welsh club", we should replace "Country" with "League" in the Top 30. SLBedit (talk) 17:06, 21 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
@SLBedit: I do concur with that statement. The document is somewhat ambiguous as it talks about "English clubs in the top 30," but the map graphic only shows the countries of the top 20, so I'm not absolutely convinced either way. I have no issues with changing the tables on this article to have a "League" column rather than a "Country" column to remove this ambiguity from Wikipedia. — Jkudlick • t • c • s 01:05, 22 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Jkudlick: the only problem I see is that the documents don't mention leagues such as Primeira Liga, where Benfica play. SLBedit (talk) 21:56, 22 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Third Opinion edit

A Third Opinion has been requested. What is the question? If the team is based in Wales and its home pitch is in Wales, then isn't the team Welsh? Robert McClenon (talk) 19:00, 21 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Because the source says that it is an English club / Premier League club. Also, the source doesn't list the Top 30 by Country. SLBedit (talk) 19:08, 21 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
What is the question? Robert McClenon (talk) 01:41, 23 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Isn't adding the country considered original research? SLBedit (talk) 02:23, 23 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
If I understood correctly, wouldn't this be more relevant to discuss at Talk:Swansea City A.F.C. page? It states in the lead "are a Welsh professional football club..." If anywhere this has to be settled, it should be there, where probably there are more watchers. Ugog Nizdast (talk) 15:02, 23 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
If the question is whether or not it's original research to describe Swansea City as a "Welsh club", then surely all you need is a different/additional source that says it is one? Such as, say, this one: Swansea City website. Anaxial (talk) 22:57, 23 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
The problem is listing the clubs by country when the source does not support it. Yes, Swansea City is a Welsh club but that's not the point here (and that is a primary source). SLBedit (talk) 18:18, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Lack of consistency with source data edit

Each source document has a revenue for the year, change in position, a revenue for the previous year and a change in position but they do not necessarily align with the source document for the previous year. As a result, each table on the page is mixing data sources causing confusion. For a worst case example a table may span three years of source documents - Paris Saint-Germain 2011-12 revenue is from 2014 document whilst in the same table the Arsenal/Chelsea change in rank is from the 2012 document. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.2.82.191 (talk) 22:05, 21 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Compiling all available data edit

Hi,

Wouldn't it make sense to compile all available data into a unified table (something like this: Data:Sandbox/MB-one/DFML.tab)?
