Hi @SupremeLordBagel: I have added a list of news mainly from Radio New Zealand to provide some substance to the article. The New Zealand Herald also has covered the story. I have attached a link with a list of stories from that newspaper. Other media companies including Stuff/ThreeNews and 1 News would also be covering the story as well. Given this is an ongoing murder trial, there are some Wikipedia policies we should keep in mind. WP:BLPCRIME and WP:PERPETRATOR, as well as WP:BLP1E, advise against writing an article about a person on trial until a verdict is reached. Additionally, WP:BLPNAME and WP:NOTPUBLICFIGURE state that a defendant is a low-profile individual who deserves the right to a fair trial, so Wikipedia should not even be writing about the trial until it is over, and a verdict known.
To avoid running afoul of Wikipedia policies, the article should remain in draft form until the trial ends and a verdict is reached. Feel free to continue working on the draft article in the meantime. I am happy to help. Personally, I think there is room for this article given the media coverage. We could also look at other articles such as the Murders of the Dickason children and the Murder of Janak Patel as models for writing crime-related articles. Thanks. Hi @SupremeLordBagel:, have updated the article to include closing arguments and verdict in the light Philip Polkinghorne's acquittal today. Article still needs work but it now can be published since the court has reached a verdict. There has been rolling media coverage over the past eight weeks so sources shouldn't be too hard to find. Thanks for starting the article. Andykatib (talk) 06:59, 23 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
