removal of Peter Matthiessen writing credit
editThis info has been removed a couple of times, and I am just curious why. --Media anthro 23:00, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- It seems that while Matthiessen wrote a book (Under the Mountain Wall) based on the same fieldwork that produced the film, there's no evidence that he wrote Dead Birds (despite what IMDb says). So I changed this.--Media anthro 13:14, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Hello
editI am editing this page to add citations and materials about the film Dead Birds, and expect to add some new sections too. --Reel315 (talk) 20:24, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
- have added a number of sections to highlight various aspects of the film, added citations to statements about the film--Reel315 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 19:44, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
Independent Verification of Film Awards, titles - Melbourne
editHi - I was able to do independent verification of the awards names and names of the film festivals for two of the festivals, but was not able to find independent verification if the film received an award at the-then Melbourne Film Festival, so for now it's just listed as a "featured film" (as it is on the MIFF webpage - meaning it was shown along with many other films. ) All other claims to getting an award track back to the filmmaker, we need independent verification, such as a news story. --Reel315 (talk) 14:52, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
Adding Subsections to the Article on Dead Birds
editDead Birds is one of the most-discussed films in ethnographic film, and the article can support addition of subsections - Synopsis, Production, Background, Release (Premiere) and Reception (Critical responses, how the film is used) --Reel315 (talk) 15:03, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
- I condense this section so that it reads less like publicity, but still references the works created in conjunction with film which its creators intended to be part of it. Heider made it very clear that part of the ethnographic film viewing experience was to have an available study guide or supporting written materials (Karl G Heider, Ethnographic Film, p. 96 --Reel315 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 15:29, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
Synopsis and citations
editCitations for the synopsis may be problematic, as descriptions of the film narrative tend to stop after the establishing shot, and then resume at the ending. Other events in the film may be described out of context of where they appear in the film in ways that make it hard to pinpoint any specific scene. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Reel315 (talk • contribs) 21:46, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- multiple citations have been added to the Synopsis, and it looks like time to remove the boxed noted that the section lacks citations.--Reel315 (talk) 19:15, 3 March 2020 (UTC)
Infobox - Information on the film
editThe infobox only seems to want to include very basic information about the film; the film credits list sound editors and sound recording, but I was not able to add this. --Reel315 (talk) 16:08, 3 March 2020 (UTC)
Removing the flag that this section lacks bibliographic citations
editHi - just checking in and I see that many citations were added to the section that was flagged as having inadequate citations. What's the feeling about removing this flag now? Reel315 (talk) 21:00, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
