I have made some Bold edits to try to address the multiple issues in the article. I could find no sources to support the text about his childhood, his date of birth, his father's occupation or how well he did at school. I have removed text that felt like original research that placed Crew's work into context or discussed its significance. The remaining sections seemed better referenced so I have left them mostly as is. I feel we could probably now remove the multiple template messages but rather than remove them myself, I prefer to leave this message in case other editors disagree.
