Illegal immigrant category a possible BLP violation?
editI just removed the illegal immigrant category as first of all he was a child following his family when he did so and second it might violate the biographies of living persons categorization provision as according to sources somehow Campos was able to apply for legal status and never had any action taken against him. - I concur and would have removed the cat myself had I noticed it. Poorly-defined categories are very problematic. AV3000 (talk) 23:56, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Assembly Race section, third paragraph, seems irrelevant
editThis section goes too much into detail about the Sheriff's removal vote and not the actual campaign. Interesting how the page mentions the campaign not wanting to make it a big deal yet it takes up more space in the Assembly race section than other items. Also, the description of the circumstances seem biased, e.g. "politically charged legal battle" it was hardly politically charged, the Sheriff beat up his wife and was charged with domestic violence charges. There is also a section that was added earlier that fail to mention that Campos will continue to serve until 2016 on the Board of Supervisors after failing the race. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.14.92.114 (talk) 00:08, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
The campaign was heavily biased by Chiu against Campos utilizing tech billionaires to do a guilt by association for following the letter of the law and not supporting Mayor Lee's 3-ring circus which was exactly politically-charged. The entire incident, in which Mirkarimi did NOT beat up anyone was blown way out of portion to what he was accused or even did a plea bargain for. Shame on Chiu for taking Mirkarimi's family into the mud while that family was trying to heal from the damage done. Mirkarimi wasn't even found guilty for what he originally was charged. He did a plea agreement for a different misdemeanor charge. Yet Chiu throws these accusations, just as you have, against evidence to the contrary. What's missing is Mayor Lee's perjury but I'm not sure that needs to be included here. Meow or never — Preceding unsigned comment added by Meowornever (talk • contribs) 01:38, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
This sounds like speculation and causation by correlation. Just because tech billionaires did indeed spend much money to defame Campos for his reckless vote and did not bring up the votes of other Supervisors does not mean this was coordinated by Chiu himself. Also, one of the chief law enforcement officers having been removed temporarily from office because he was under investigation for patterns of abuse is hardly political - even so it has no reason to be flushed out into detail in an article about another supervisor. One sentence mentioning the opposition's use should suffice and edits will reflect such. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.14.92.114 (talk) 18:35, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
If it is speculation it was done by news reporters and Chiu had every opportunity to distance himself from those despicable ads, and he failed to even mention how he opposed them. There was no pattern of abuse, it was a politically-motivated smear campaign designed to take down the Sheriff. Chip's dirty tricks turned the campaign against Campos, an entire article could be devoted to it, if fact several have. Meowornever (talk • contribs) 11 November 2014 (UTC)
Meowornever was banned as a sockpuppet. I have removed his edits from this article. Chisme (talk) 21:10, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
Post-Supervisor Career?
editQuestion: David Campos was Deputy Executive of Santa Clara County[1] and Chief of Staff to the San Francisco District Attorney.[2] Should this go into the "Political Career" section?
