Update

I've taken the liberty of trying to rationalise this page, M'Naghten Rules, and Insanity defense so they they can all be inter-consistent without unnecessary duplication. So I've made some minor changes here, and major ones (ongoing) in M'Naghten Rules, and will be dealing with Insanity defense shortly. I have moved some items from bibliography to footnotes, and taken out a couple that seem to duplicate references or not be particularly relevant. Screenplay

I have removed this unsourced text

A screenplay about the M'Naghten case and aftermath ("In the Broad Face of Day" - 2011) was written by J. T. Dalby and R. D. Schneider, two experts on the case - see American International Film Festival (March 2011) and others.

as it appears to be an unpublished screenplay. If it gets turned into a film that would be great and certainly worth putting into the article. Alternatively, if anyone can find a published source (not a promotional website) with something about the screenplay then it could be mentioned. Meanwhile both authors have works listed in the further reading section.Southdevonian (talk) 18:09, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

All screenplays are unpublished - the most they are is registered - which this one is. Simple google search will find it in various sources. Because of this listing it has been solicited for stage adaptation. It will need a source. It is really up to the editor who puts text in to provide a source. I would have been prepared to put in a reference for you, but when I googled it I couldn't find any published sources. Shooting

I have changed the section title from Peel assassination attempt to shooting of Edward Drummond. People have speculated that it was a case of mistaken identity; a few lines further down the article mentions this. But the fact remains that the prime minister wasn't in the area; it was Drummond who was shot; and Daniel Macnaughten never admitted to having intended to assassinate Peel.
