Is Cross End a hamlet? edit

@188.30.128.54 and Crouch, Swale: On modern Ordnance Survey maps http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=363950&Y=525750&A=Y&Z=115, Cross End looks like a region within the small village of Kirkby Thore. On an 1859 Ordnance Survey map https://maps.nls.uk/view/102347820, it looks like the name of a single farm in Kirkby Thore. So it seems unlikely to classify Cross End as a hamlet, either now or historically. -- Dr Greg  talk  20:24, 8 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yes I think either it should be redirected to Kirkby Thore (as I did) or just deleted since I'm not sure if its even worth mentioning. Agree its not a hamlet but at best a suburb of Kirkby Thore. As noted Google shows very little for this place, no mention in Books (or Vision of Britain) for example. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:49, 8 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Also worth considering that there are (at least two) other more reliable Cross End locations within the UK, although neither currently have articles. Lithopsian (talk) 10:36, 9 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
What exactly is Cross End? The name appears on the OS map in a way that to me it's not clear what it refers to - possibly an area of Kirkby Thore. I notice it is sometimes named in addresses both with and without mention of Kirkby Thore, and neither of these examples is referring to locations close to where the OS places the name - the first is a farm outside the village and the second is in a different part of the village. I don't think we can just redirect to the Kirkby Thore article unless that at least says something about Cross End. Maybe this page just needs to be deleted, unless more information can be found. Is there a relevant WikiProject where there might be someone with local knowledge who can help out? --94.197.68.15 (talk) 20:05, 9 August 2020 (UTC) (Addendum - there is a WikiProject named immediately above - apologies for my not looking in the right place! I'll put a note there. --94.197.68.15 (talk) 20:08, 9 August 2020 (UTC))Reply
@Encyclopædius: as creator of the article, in case they have anything to say. Note that there's a parish/parish council website here which has no hits for the word "Cross" or "cross", suggesting that the place may not be notable. PamD 23:03, 9 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
And there are three other redlinked "Cross End"s, but not this one, in List_of_United_Kingdom_locations:_Croe-Cros. PamD 23:06, 9 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
