merge

This is not a distinct topic from Computerized maintenance management system, a briefer article whose contents can be easily merged here. After that, of course, is the need for very extensive cleanup of the merged article. This isn't an encyclopedia article as much as a Powerpoint presentation DGG ( talk ) 22:28, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

Don't merge

These articles should not be merged. I have considerable experience with CMMS packages both as a user and as a developer/ consultant for other companies (proof). While it is true that it may be part of a larger suite of software it is used as a standalone system by a lot of companies and as such it deserves an article of its own. Computerized maintenance management systems can be distinctly different from computer aided facility management systems. As the founder of eWorkOrders.com I can personally tell you that most of our customers are using our system for property management, but we have a large variety of customers that use it for fleet maintenance, equipment maintenance, workforce dispatching, calibrations, asset management (not facility assets), service request management and more. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.221.226.213 (talk) 13:50, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

I agree, do not merge. My view of a CaFM system included Auto-Cads of base building, built-out, MEP, Voice and Data, and furniture, which is beyond the scope of the typical CMMS system. I also vote against a merge. IWMS and CAFM are distinct and CMMS can be a part of either. CMMS is also a stand-alone capability. The fact that CAFM can encompass CMMS is largely irrelevant.
