Fair use rationale for Image:RicohColiseum.gif edit

Image:RicohColiseum.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:08, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ownership? edit

This page says the coliseum is owned by the MLSE but the MLSE page says that company only manages it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maple_Leaf_Sports_&_Entertainment —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.55.220.163 (talk) 23:35, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Gallery edit

Wikipedia:Image use policy § Image galleries.

The images in the gallery collectively must have encyclopedic value and add to the reader's understanding of the subject. Images in a gallery should be suitably captioned to explain their relevance both to the article subject and to the theme of the gallery, and the gallery should be appropriately titled (unless the theme of the gallery is clear from the context of the article). Images in a gallery should be carefully selected, avoiding similar or repetitive images, unless a point of contrast or comparison is being made. Just as we seek to ensure that the prose of an article is clear, precise and engaging, galleries should be similarly well-crafted. See 1750–75 in Western fashion for an example of a good use of galleries.

However, Wikipedia is not an image repository. A gallery is not a tool to shoehorn images into an article, and a gallery consisting of an indiscriminate collection of images of the article subject should generally either be improved in accordance with the above paragraph or moved to Wikimedia Commons. Links to the Commons categories can be added to the Wikipedia article using the

,   Media related to Coca-Cola Coliseum at Wikimedia Commons, or

templates. One rule of thumb to consider: if, due to its content, such a gallery would only lend itself to a title along the lines of "Gallery" or "Images of [insert article title]", as opposed to a more descriptive title, the gallery should either be revamped or moved to the Commons.

Move back to Ricoh Coliseium edit

Not yet renamed, doesn't get renamed until October. Please revert back to current name of Ricoh Colesium. We can mention it will be renamed, but its name hasn't changed at this time. Canterbury Tail talk 17:37, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

All MLSE sources have it as Coca-Cola Coliseum. Website and all. By all appearances it was renamed today. User:Mo2010 talk 18:11, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • The (one) reference seems to indicate it is to be officially renamed before October. So there is no official date. Bizarre and confusing. The building still has Ricoh signs. Is there a precedent for a wiki article where there is a transition that is not clearly spelled out? Alaney2k (talk) 22:01, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
Don’t know. It’s confusing as Mo2010 states the websites showing the revised name but the press statement, the reliable source, is saying it will be renamed but it hasn’t happened yet only that it will by the time the Marlies start playing again. With Scotiabank Arena there was a clear cut date always stated, this is a lot more nebulous. It’s a bit odd and the websites actually contradict the press statements. Canterbury Tail talk 23:30, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
The MLSE official site https://mlse.com/portfolio/, arena official site https://www.coca-colacoliseum.com/ and the Marlies official site all call it Coca-Cola Coliseum. I take the official sites as reliable sources and the official sources and they all say Coca-Cola Coliseum. The Ricoh Coliseum site and address is off line. User:Mo2010 talk 23:49, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
Just looked out my window, still says Ricoh Colesium. Also be aware of primary sources, Canterbury Tail talk 23:58, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
Having said that though, the fact that all the sites etc have been updated already with the new name, despite the fact it contradicts the text they've issued to the markets and press, does seem to suggest it's gone through. I can't imagine they'd remove another company's licencing name before it's time is due otherwise that would open a ridiculous can of worms. Canterbury Tail talk 00:09, 12 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

The PR doesn't say it will be renamed in October, it says that the hockey season starts in October. Aso, the PR here has a picture of the arena with the new name. (Not sure if it has been photoshopped...). TDL (talk) 03:35, 12 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
