Notable services..... edit

Should Debakey's or other notable events be listed? Few other people would be notable enough to even mention, but I'm not sure. --Hourick (talk) 10:57, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Copyright violations edit

We have serious copyright violations on this article. What was presumed to be PD material claimed to be created by User:Vietboi26 is actually copyrighted material found at the locations that state "Copyright © 2006. All Rights Reserved. Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston 1700 San Jacinto, Houston, Texas 77002-8291.". I will remove and request deletion. Postoak (talk) 22:39, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Postoak, At one point User:Vietboi26 said the Archdiocese granted him permission to use all the information he has added on Wikipedia (much of the text was taken word-for-word from the Archdiocese's website, and I surmise the photos may have copyright issues as well, but first things first). I told him that if that was he case, he needed to obtain a copy of that "permission" in writing and submit it to wiki via email. I'm not sure as to whether or not anything was done to that effect, however if you look at the history of the Article (and his TALK) he has repeatedly removed the copyright notice template (as he did after your most recent edits -- to avoid 3rr, I did not restore them at this time)
  • I also suggested that he re-write several sections, so they weren't verbose from the Archdiocese's website (to try to help clear up the copyright questions) -- a task that he did undertake.
  • He has put forward a great amount of effort to expand the article, and I feel that most, if not all, of his edits have been done in good faith. I also think WP:BITE probably applies in this situation, so I have been a bit more lax is pushing the issue. --Nsaum75 (talk) 08:09, 4 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have additional concerns for the following images listed here with the original sources. It's OK to use flicker as long as the image is properly licensed. The flicker license is "Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 2.0 Generic" by flickr user Onilad. Note that this license prevent commercial reuse. User:Vietboi26 uploaded these to Wikipedia as PD with the signature cropped from the image. Some of the images retain the original signature. Perhaps Onilad and User:Vietboi26 are one in the same, but if so why not just state so and release the images on flickr as public domain and properly source and classify the images on Wikipedia? These images are of dubious source and I will request to have them removed. If they are truly PD, then User:Vietboi26 should reclassify them as PD on flickr are then reupload them with an acceptable copyright tag, see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. Additional images found, not free or PD and by different photographer(s) at flickr. Speedy deletion requested. Postoak (talk) 08:06, 5 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Copyrighted images, again edit

This image [1] is copyrighted. I'm reverting the recent additions. Users cannot upload images to public domain when they belong to someone else. Postoak (talk) 01:07, 13 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I should have read here first, but the images that *I* had uploaded were made by me. Fortunately I still have them on my computer...somewhere.--Hourick (talk) 18:24, 22 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Vietboi and his sockpuppets were uploading a tremendous number of images that were either clearly non-free or had questionable copyright status'. He was also uploading copyrighted images on top of existing free images. I apologize if your photos were somehow deleted in the process. --nsaum75¡שיחת! 20:37, 22 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Only images that were uploaded by Vietboi were deleted. Hourick's images not touched, maybe they were removed from the article but still available. Postoak (talk) 21:29, 22 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Pipe Organ edit

After the official organ dedication, we need to add something to the article about it. It's a $2.2MM instrument, so it's definitely worth mentioning. [2], [3], [4] -207.70.169.36 (talk) 15:17, 30 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

We Need a Better Image edit

The picture for the Cathedral does not show how large it really is. The one below is much better. -- 24.215.246.114 (talk) 00:35, 21 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia can only use free images; the one you linked to is owned by the Archdiocese, and therefore cannot be used. -- nsaum75 !Dígame¡ 02:08, 21 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
