Flag?

edit

The flag seems to be a copy of a modern Russian Republic, where is the proof this was ever used by Circassia during its existence? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.208.133.80 (talk) 02:31, 4 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

There are countless proofs. Most notably illustrations by those who visited Circassia during the 1800s showing the flag. A poor son of Adam (talk) 14:48, 8 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

this Wiki article is informative but it omits to mention what happened to the displaced people (post Russian war) how their beautiful women folk were taken as trophies in ensuing events; reaching as far as the deserts of present day Saudi Arabia, where they were defacto slaves and much sought after. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.93.119.61 (talk) 13:01, 26 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

map

edit

I stumbled on a map of Circassia that shows the location of Circassian villages before the conquest: http://tuapsepress.com/full.php?id=105 It's the first time I've seen such detail. Machinarium (talk) 15:51, 29 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

This is a very poorly made list. I have checked it out before. Could be used to expand content about Ancient Circassia maybe. Sincerely, AdigabrekTalk   15:37, 22 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Coat of Arms

edit

What is the accurate coat of arms of Circassia? I don't think the one showing a man in armour riding a horse is accurate as the only source I can find about it is from a biography of a kabardian man who was not even born when Circassia was still independent. Selam aleyküm, siqoş. Yes, indeed, this arms was not used by the Circassians themselves - at least not the majority of them. But it is the only "officialy coat of arms of Circassia" to ever exist. It was used by a confederation of princes - and was also integrated into the Russian coat of arms once Russia completed it's invasion. The other thing you restored is just the arms of the Cherkessky family - just a family of Circassian origin. A poor son of Adam (talk) 14:08, 8 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

What is this article's Subject? And what's the matter with this introduction?

edit

This article's topic primarily ought to be about the region/state/country called 'Circassia'. But it reads like a pamphlet of some 'Circassian Liberation and Independece Front'. I had watched a 'Circassian' dance video on YouTube. Being a westerner, I had never before heard about Circassia. Instead of getting information on the topic, I find myself in the middle of some information war! Circassia, its people and culture have all my sympathies and respect. Using Wikipedia as a political platform and playground for manipulation will do 'Circassia' no good!. Your not doing 'Circassians' a favor by pushing your agenda on Wikipedia. The introductory section is overly occupied with argumenting for the existence of an independent Circassia prior to the Russian invasion and annexation. The main take-away seems to be that there is and was some dispute over the alleged independence...This is how it comes across. Your not doing yourselves a favor! Stick to the topic. Remain neutral and objective. Write a new article if necessary (maybe something like 'Circassian-Russian controversy'). Clean up this article, especially the introduction, please! agreed.. & i also came by way of a beautiful "dance" video. 2601:247:C500:6760:8901:35C7:8CB7:EA90 (talk) 00:45, 7 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
