Rejection of homosexuality
editIn order to give an accurate description of this Church, it is necessary to mention the fact that a core belief is the rejection of homosexuality. This was the very reason they broke away from the Anglican Church. FairDinks (talk) 21:26, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- Please add a reference which supports that this is a core belief. WP:PROVEIT may be helpful. Ifnord (talk) 21:27, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
It is already listed in the Jerusalem Statement. My previous edit which explained how the Jerusalem declaration (which explicitly outlines a hetronormative stance) was also removed. It seems as though an honest stance on this Church is being blocked. FairDinks (talk) 21:30, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
As an example their own webpage states that a rejection of homosexuals being married was the reason they created the church. They list no other reasons for the Church’s formation. This shows it is a “core” belief. Removing this core belief over and over is denying the truth. See their own webpage: https://confessinganglicans.nz/history/ FairDinks (talk) 21:37, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- So I suggest it would be appropriate to add their opposition to the Anglican church's decision to permit the blessing of same-sex marriages and civil unions, and use that website as a reference. That appears factual and neutral. However, would it be accurate to say it's a core belief? Ifnord (talk) 21:41, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- The article already states, in the lead, that the church broke away because it didn't support same-sex marriage. That isn't the same thing as rejecting homosexuality, for example by calling for the re-criminalising of it, or supporting conversion therapy. If they do take such a stance, it should certainly be in the article, but sources are required.-gadfium 22:04, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
That is a good reply. I believe they do also support conversion therapy and will find the references. FairDinks (talk) 23:35, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
