Need for an article

edit

I created a disambiguation page for now on this topic. It really deserves its own article. It was previously a redirect to Catechesis, but this only covers a narrow part of Christian education within a select group of Christians, and does not encompass Christian education post Baptism or christian education in churches that don't use the term catechesis. Many Christians would think of Sunday School or a Bible study group as the central form of Christian education that they participate in. Regardless, Christian education as a whole could cover everything from Catechesis and Sunday school, to Christian colleges and universities, to seminary studies, etc. There are both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Christian education. It's a big topic that deserves a large article with a wide scope. Frankly, I am surprised that there isn't already an article on this, because it is a major area within Christianity. 4meter4 (talk) 16:26, 15 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi 4meter4, what are your thoughts on expanding Religious education? Ncwfl (talk) 21:39, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ncwfl Meh. Each religion has its own unique approach to teaching its religion, and even within a religion there are sometimes wide differences depending on the denomination/sect. Lumping them together as a generic topic across religions is not something that is particularly useful in my opinion, because it lends itself to false generalizations and comparisons. However, it would be the only reasonable place to cover the somewhat ambiguous religious studies or world religion degrees at secular universities where the scholar is studying multiple religions, and often not from an insider or faith based perspective.4meter4 (talk) 01:30, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
