Untitled edit

Chris Leben has always competed as a middleweight in his UFC career, so in the last line of the MMA Career section that sentence is incorrect. It was Mike Swick who dropped from middleweight to welterweight thus changing the Leben-Swick fight. But yes he was victorious byt KO over Sakara at UFC 82. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.72.37.117 (talk) 02:07, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

DUI arrest edit

This is happening right now and so the details are sketchy. will need updating soon. Boils (talk) 06:47, 1 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Word of advice: don't add anything like that without an inline citation. Negative, unsourced information is to be removed immediately and without discussion per WP:BLP. I was able to quickly find a citation for it, so I did add it, but in the future it needs to be added at the exact same time as the information. Also, the original version of it included speculation questioning Leben's claims to have given up alcohol, etc. That has no place in Wikipedia; just add the facts as reported by the sources and let them stand on their own. Gromlakh (talk) 12:45, 1 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

The part about Leben giving up alcohol were Leben's own words on the TUF finale after urinating in another fighter's bed in the show. But I see your point. Thanks for the edit. couldn't link the source at the time. Boils (talk) 00:28, 2 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not a problem. I guess I was a little gruff with my earlier comment (I hadn't had my coffee yet...*twiddle*). I do remember Leben saying that he'd given up alcohol during/after TUF, but it's not really for Wikipedia to call into question his statements; other commentators can do that. Besides, alcohol isn't the only way to get to a DUI (although it's certainly the most common). You can also get a DUI for being under the influence of drugs, be they legal prescription drugs or illegal drugs, and the source didn't specify what kind of DUI he got. Fight Record and Chart edit

His Professional MMA Record and chart are incorrect. It says he is "21 and 1" while he is actually "18 and 4". The Chart shows three wins where there should be losses. I don't feel like changing it, but someone should. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.178.244.136 (talk) 04:59, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Testing positive for Stanozolol edit

From the Michael Bisping page: "After the fight Leben tested positive for Stanozolol and was suspended for nine months." Seems like its something important enough to have on the fighter's own page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.103.185.42 (talk) 18:57, 23 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Stann loss edit

To whomever included the info that Leben was sick before the Stann bout in the "notes" section of the fight record, I removed it. I feel that it was unnecessary and spurious. While it is one thing for include the info in the prose portion of the entry, in the context of the fight record it really just looks like sour grapes from a fan. Case in point, Brandon Vera lost a match to Keith Jardine shortly after he was mugged at gunpoint. That info is in the entry but not in the fight data. Would it not look strange to you if in the "notes" of the chart it said "Vera mugged before fight"? Jackbox1971 (talk) 02:38, 7 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ultimate Fighter 1 edit

Leben did not have a win over Jason Thacker of Cananda in the Ultimate Fighter One finale. That couldn't be more wrong and what's worse is that there's a round and time of round given for the win of a fight that never happened. Jason Thacker was kicked off the show before he got a chance to fight. Also, Leben lost both of his two fights on that show. Thanks for getting it totally wrong. Good job. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.34.23.60 (talk) 05:08, 14 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Loss to Uriah Hall edit

Leben himself quit the fight, not his corner, not the doctor. It's not a doctor stoppage OR a corner stoppage, it's called a retirement. Really. Don't believe me? Look at Lashley vs Griggs. Or better yet, look at Sherdog. Or better yet, the actual text in the Unified Rules. Taotd (talk) 07:08, 5 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Taotd. But can you please provide secondary sources and not cite Wikipedia? I know that if a fighter quits it is a TKO, but I am not completely sure if the correct word should be "retirement" (English is not my first language). Sorry in advance for the inconvenience. ComputerJA () 18:39, 9 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • The word "retire" itself doesn't exclusively mean "quitting your job," but is also used as a synonym for withdrawl, or ceasing activity. The Merriam-Webster dictionary partially defines the word "retire" as "to stop playing in a game, competition, etc., especially because of injury." [Pat Jackson's record] and [Lawton's record] from Boxrec.com. The "RTD" is shorthand for "Retired," meaning the fighter himself quit on the stool between rounds. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Taotd (talkcontribs) 01:28, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
