Picasso's dirty joke/prank (?)

Whn I was in my teens visiting kin in Chicago in the mid 1970s, I heard some family members (natives of Chicago) discussing the sculpture as a example of Picasso's school-boy humor. They alleged the sculpture (when seen straight on) represented a woman's labia and clitoris. I got the impression that this interpretation was not unique to them, but had been a bit of a scandal when the sculpture was originally installed: giant downtown vulva! If this was a common perception, it should be mentioned,, but I have no idea how one would confirm it. I would be very surprised if any of the local papers would mention it. A close family member of mine was the steelworker at American Bridge who laid out the steel for the sculpture. Years ago, he disclosed that while working on the project, the gentleman who oversaw the construction related that he disliked the mayor (or a comment made) and created this abstract of the female anatomy to represent how he felt. I recall my relative telling how the "overseer" stood over him throughout the process to make sure every piece was accurate and chuckling at having knowledge of the inside story that the artist shared with him during their brief time together. Unfortunately, both the artist and family member are deceased and the story remains urban lore. Perhaps the welder from AB can corroborate. --KNDevor (talk) 14:10, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

Tête de baboon spelling

"Tête de" seems to be the French words for "Head of". However "Baboon" is an English word, as the French translation should be "babouin", with a "u" and a "i". Isn't this "baboon" a spelling mistake, as we should expect the whole title to be written consistently in only one language ? Teofilo talk 16:40, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
