"Bowtie"

When did this 'term' describing the Chevrolet logo come into existence?

I'm not a 'car' person and the first time I heard the logo called a "bowtie" I thought it was one of the stupidest and dumbest things I'd ever heard. (Why? Because it does not look anything like a bowtie to me. A "true" bowtie is THINNER in the middle than at the ends. Why do you think the emoji version of a bowtie is done as either >< or >-< ?)

I don't think that "bowtie" had been used as an (or even in) advertising 'thing' until the 1990s {a friend, whose father worked at a Chevrolet dealership from the late 1960s through the 1970s, thinks he heard or saw the term in the 1970s; and, he, a car person, agrees with me about "bowtie" term} - - - but I could be wrong (about the 1990s date).

But given that the term is being used, I think some sort of history or background about how it came to be should be included in the entry/article.

If Chevorlet used the term "bowtie", then it is official. If it was used since the late 20th century, well, it is a colliqual name that SHOULD be included. The Corvette ZR1 (talk) 12:40, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

It’s pretty common in car culture to call it a bow tie

"Bowtie" Logo

It puzzled me why nobody had come to any real conclusion as to where the Chevrolet Bowtie Logo started. Several years ago I stumbled upon entries in a Freemason lodge in New York [1], in which William C. Durant was apparently a member, then it hit me as to the design of the Chevy Logo. Nowadays I believe "those in the know" have come to the same realization that the Logo is in fact the famous 33. it is two letter "T's" rotated in opposite directions (Thirty-Three - TT) and butt against one another. the modern version is even more pronounced than the original...I will continue my research as to when and where he first became a Freemason (if possible).

Chevrolet bowtie logo:

A) The text states that Louis Chevrolet was born to French parents. This is incorrect. Both of his parents were Swiss, although from a French-speaking part of Switzerland. Chevrolet's family tree is documented for several generations back at this Website: https://gw.geneanet.org/1290?lang=en&iz=2&p=louis+joseph&n=chevrolet --> Suggestion: either change "French" to "Swiss", or simply state "Another explanation attributes the cross shape of the logo to the flag of Switzerland, Louis Chevrolet's home country."

B) The second explanation (Swiss cross) contradicts the title "Chevrolet bowtie logo", since it interprets the logo not as a bowtie, but as a cross. In order to accommodate both explanations, I suggest to change the title from "Chevrolet bowtie logo" to "Chevrolet logo". This is sufficiently clear. 84.52.195.61 (talk) 16:39, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

In the Marketing / Chevrolet bowtie logo section, please change "Sport Wallpaper" back to just "wallpaper" in the third sentence.

It used to be just "wallpaper" here ( https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Chevrolet&oldid=587356664 ), and was changed to the "Sport Wallpaper" wording by a spammer here ( https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Chevrolet&oldid=588113854 ). Later, the spam link was removed, but the wording change was not reverted.

Hello, I noticed some lines in this page where the name "Chevy" is used incorrectly. It should be the correct "Chevrolet" name for encyclopediac purposes. Here are some examples:

1) Actual design work for the first Chevy Chevrolet, the costly Series C Classic Six, was drawn up by Etienne Planche, following instructions from Louis

2) In 1957 Chevy Chevrolet introduced its first fuel injected engine,

3) In 1999, Opel was rebranded to Chevrolet as a coincidence of Chevy's Chevrolet's entry to Indonesia

4) Major teams include Team Penske, KV Racing, Chip Ganassi Racing and CFH Racing who all use Chevy Chevrolet engines

5) Mexico also has some cars of its own, such as the Chevy Chevrolet C2, which is a reworked older-generation Corsa B

My request: Use proper, correct "Chevrolet" name for encyclopedia articles, except in cases where it is referring to the name itself (for example "Chevrolet, colloquially known as 'Chevy'"). 24.177.246.177 (talk) 22:58, 12 May 2022 (UTC)

Missing parts?

Isn't it missing parts of the beginning of the history of Chevrolet? such as it was first created in Canada by the Swiss guy, which were basically rebranded French cars Esteban Outeiral Dias (talk) 12:44, 8 September 2023 (UTC)

2015 Equinox

Been talking to Chevrolet factory for past 6 days and was told multiple times that after 10 years of owning a new Chevy that they are not responsible for parts being discontinued making vehicle un-driveable. Asked the lady I was talking to that more or less that if you buy a new Chevy, you have 10 years to drive it before it is useless and should sell it before then. Been a Chevy buyer since 1985 and still have my 85 Silverado but now Chevy will only guarantee their vehicles for 10 years because they have no guarantee that they won't discontinue a $50.00 part (25952924) making the vehicle useless. I thought I would never say that I am switching all my companies and my personal vehicles to Ford, which I hate, but have no choice. Everyone I know is getting this message that after 5 days of trying to get an answer from Chevy to fix my wifes 2015 Equinox that I was told that there is nothing Chevy can do for me and that the heater in the car is unfixable and wothless since we live in Alaska. I have recorded every conversation I have had with Chevy so if anyone wants two hear hours of conversations please contact me at 907-351-8238 and I will send them to you. And my dumb ass just bought my mom a 2024 Equiniox from Lithia South here in Anchorage Alaska and paid $33,545.00 cash for it since my dad just passed away and she needed a new vehicle. i should of bought her a Ford or Dodge which I hate both brands but should last longer than 10 years.
