Talk:Catholic University School

History

edit

I believe there should be more talk about the rich traditions and history of the college, stemming from the fact that it is one of the most illustrious private schools in the world, easily competing with the top European/British/international equivalents. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arumpostasest (talkcontribs) 16:43, 12 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Former pupils

edit

I have removed the reference to former pupils being described as "Old Cathonians". This term is not in contemporary use. If it was a historical term, then please provide a reference. There seems to be an undertone among some editors of this page to see the school described with inflated terms of prestige and to equate it to more British-style public school institutions. Please try to keep the article reflective of the school in factual terms. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.172.165.197 (talk) 19:11, 16 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Leaving cert results

edit

The following has been removed:

Leaving Cert scores are high, with over 70% of students scoring 500 points or more.[1]

The source provided for this claim is a Dept of Education subject report on the provision of Classical Studies at the school. It provides no mention of leaving cert scores, and the number sounds highly exaggerated.

There was also a claim that the school was ranked 12th nationally with 100% of students going into university courses. This has been corrected to 30th place nationally with 72% going into university courses as per the school league tables for 2016. Please do not turn this page into a false marketing campaign. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.172.165.197 (talk) 19:43, 16 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

FV issues

edit

Many of the references which accompany the text do not check out. Either because they are not specific enough to verify (linking to a website homepage for example; as here), involve synthesis (extrapolating from a source to support something that isn't actually stated in the source; like this and this), are entirely random and unrelated in any way (like this), or are not supported by any reference at all. Unless those issues can be addressed in the normal course of things, I will take some time (in the coming weeks) to attempt to address myself. If I cannot resolve, I will be removing the unsupported text. Guliolopez (talk) 12:18, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
