My name is Allan Sachs Jr., I am the son of Cathee Dahmen. My social security number, Native American Band Number and birth certificate proves this as a demonstrable irrefutable fact of reality. I grew up with my mother as a child and visited her every weekend, yes I exist, she did not have "two daughters" in her second marriage, unless there was some sort of sex change operation done on me which I am unaware of...I am also the owner of my mothers ashes which are next to me as I write this. I don't have the slightest idea why somebody continues to erase my existence from this wikipedia article but I exist and I am her son so please STOP erasing me. There has also been a great deal of accurate information about Cathee Dahmen added to this pages which has been, sadly, removed. I'm not selling any books about my mother's life or trying to capitalize on her, I'd just like people to know who my mother was and to get the facts of reality reflected in her article here on wikipedia. Editors; please stop editing this wikipedia article by de-emphasizing my mother and filling it with preposterous false information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.27.133.251 (talk) 16:15, 28 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

You do realize, don't you, that anyone can come here and claim to be her son? It's the internet. Assuming you're telling the truth though, as a relative of the subject you may have what we call a conflict of interest and you need to be careful in your editing. Any information you add or change needs to be verifiable with a reliable source. Simply claiming to know something as family isn't good enough. And please keep in mind that most editors edit in good faith. No one is likely adding "preposterous false information" (if that's what it actually is) on purpose or actively trying to de-emphasize the subject of the article.  Mbinebri  talk ← 14:09, 3 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
you do realize that wikipedia has a serious problem interacting with people trying to correct errors in articles. why should they read all your pointy policy links? a changed attitude will be required, lest more Seigenthaler incidents and Anatole_Broyard_controversy continue to stain the humanity of wikipedia. We have a policy on Wikipedia that editors with a potential conflict of interest, such as family members, need to put their information on the talk page rather than editing the article itself. If some of the information available about this person is erroneous, please point this out on the talk page, as you have done, so that editors working on the article know. I'm certain it is frustrating when erroneous information gets out there. For now, I would suggest setting out your full version of the facts, either on paper, as an oral history, or on a personal site such as a blog. If you can, find someone to write an article using your correct information in a reliable source, such as a newspaper, book, or academic journal article. Once a third party reliable source is available, please add that to the talk page also, as it can be used in Wikipedia to help set the facts straight. Revising my remarks one more time, originally rewritten with the intention of attempting to be somewhat more polite here, after looking at the sources and policy. Attempted to get the family info from the second source, which had confusing prose, and got it wrong. Technically speaking, we have only self-published sources naming the family members; but kindness and common sense says that if both the dad and the kid say they belong on this page, we leave them in the article.
