Fair use rationale for Image:CarlNafzger-TraitsofaWinner.gif edit

Image:CarlNafzger-TraitsofaWinner.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Carl is a PBR Heroes and Legends Ring of Honor recipient edit

Hi, is anyone watching this topic or taking care of it? I've been working on the article Professional Bull Riders: Heroes and Legends. In 2007, Carl received the Ring of Honor for bullriding from the PBR. The Ring of Honor is the equivalent of a hall of fame for a bullrider. It is a huge honor. It needs to be documented in this article. Feel free to document. If I don't see any change, I will document it myself. But it take me a little while to get to it as I'm working on a couple of articles right now. Here's the source: http://www.pbr.com/en/riders/heroes-and-legends/ring-of-honor/2007/carl-nafzger.aspx The PBR article contains quite a bit of content. I may document it if you don't get around to it within the next day or so. I'm thinking that if we seriously want to expand this article, we could leave what's here already for the lead and add more below, in chronological order, bull riding first and then horse racing. White Arabian Filly (talk · contribs) Pretty sure I won't get to it in the next couple days. You are welcome to it and I could definitely help later next week if need be. The whole topic needs revisited. There's info. in the horse racing hall of fame article that could be added: https://www.racingmuseum.org/hall-of-fame/carl-nafzger And there's a ton of info. in his PBR Ring of Honor topic that could be added: http://www.pbr.com/en/riders/heroes-and-legends/ring-of-honor/2007/carl-nafzger.aspx And this article: http://www.pbr.com/en/news/features/other-features/2013/4/carl-nafzger.aspx I think this man is quite a notable! :) Oh, the stuff here already, just leave it and go on you said... yes, that's fine too. Maybe just copy edit if need be... Dawnleelynn (talk) 16:53, 1 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Also in the Texas Horse Racing Hall of Fame at http://txhof.com/carl-nafzger.html Another PBR article http://www.pbr.com/en/news/press-releases/2007/10/professional-bull-riders-name-2007-ring-of-honor-recipients.aspx So, the PBR honors him, but he competed in the PRCA. Not the only PRCA bull rider honored by the PBR. http://lubbockonline.com/stories/090607/pro_090607063.shtml#.WEBmFVzvbmE Dawnleelynn (talk) 18:06, 1 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Rodeo categories edit

Gjs238

Last thing I want is an edit war, so if I can explain what I'm doing. I'm working from two wiki projects that oversee rodeo articles. I am trying to overhaul the categories for the rodeo articles as they need a cleanup. I was adding all of the bull riders to the Rodeo and Rodeo performers categories. The rodeo performers category had actually been in this article for a few versions now, so not sure why you removed it this time. It's not a parent category if that's what your comment meant? Rodeo is the top-most category, though, if that's what Parent means. Are you saying that a parent category can't have articles in it? I didn't want to have all the bull riders in these two categories and then have this article be the exception. I've already added a lot of articles to these categories' it's been a lot of work. We only have a small handful of people who work on the articles, and they are very busy, so I volunteered to work on these categories. And then when I'm done, I was going to have a category guru check them over and fix anything-an editor that only works on categories. Anyway, any advice or explanation you can give me? Thanks! dawnleelynn(talk) 16:30, 12 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • Hello! Generally, articles should be placed in the lowest, most specific categories available and should not be located in both child (lower) and parent (upper) categories simultaneously. However, if you are working on a project (much appreciated!) and categorizing the articles this way helps you, I most certainly will oblige. When you're ready for a category cleanup drop me a note on my talk page and I'll try to help. Regards, Gjs238 (talk) 23:37, 13 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Gjs238 (talk · contribs) Hi again! Thank you for your friendly note! My mentor has decided she is going to talk a look at the rodeo categories. She's one of the ones in charge of the WP:EQ that handles many of the rodeo articles. And we had a discussion earlier today and she was saying the same thing you did. I don't think the article is supposed to be in both categories like you were saying - one is parent and one is child. Give us a few days to work what our category structure is going to be and I'll let you know. Surely we will take any help we can get. She's pretty busy, but I have time to work on it these days. Thanks again, I'd like to get it right in this article as well as the others. I appreciate your putting up with me...relatively new editor of about 6 months...the next note will be on your talk page. dawnleelynn(talk) 23:56, 13 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
