Fixed up the first paragraph a bit and added everything after it. It's still woefully incomplete. Cao Wei 21:36, 20 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Added some more. It's RoTK information, but it's the best I can find. I'm going to keep looking. Cao Wei 18:32, 9 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Problem Line edit

"Yu Huan's Weilue recorded a letter from Sun Quan to Wei official Hao Zhou (浩周), around the time when Sun Quan was nominally a vassal of Wei. The letter mentioned that Hao Zhou suggested Sun Quan's son could establish marital ties with the Cao family, just like the marriages between the Caos and Xiahous."
This line is presented as evidence for the Cao-Xiahou shared origin. However, doesn't it suggest otherwise? Surely if the Cao and Xiahou family were of shared lineage, they wouldn't need marital ties to affirm their relation? The fact that the Caos and Xiahous intermarried appears to suggest that they needed the marital ties to be interrelated. It seems to me an illogical synthesis (and speaking of which, where is this synthesis mentioned?).
Have I misunderstood this? Please correct my understanding or the article as appropriate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Benjitheijneb (talkcontribs) 17:15, 22 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

What I understand from Hao Zhou's letter is that he was suggesting to Sun Quan to arrange a marriage between his son and a woman from the Cao family. He then cited an example of how the Caos and Xiahous were connected by marriage and asked Sun Quan to do something similar. This letter was not meant to serve as evidence for the Cao-Xiahou shared lineage. Instead, it was used by Wu Jinhua to counter He Zhuo's claim that people from Eastern Wu were responsible for starting a rumour saying that Cao Song was a Xiahou. And how does the letter do so? It shows that even a person from Cao Wei (Hao Zhou) already made reference to the Cao-Xiahou shared lineage (albeit not directly) at the beginning of the Three Kingdoms period [Recall: Sun Quan was a vassal of Wei from 220–222.] so it was not a rumour spread by Wu people (in a later period).
