Redirection To Glee Project edit

This article doesn't warrant an article. I think it would make more sense to make a redirect to the Glee Project.DragonBallNerd (talk) 17:31, 22 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Actually, as of last night he was deemed the winner of the Bing Fan Favorite on The Glee Project, and won $10,000. I'd say that (though it may be a stretch) he did win a reality show, and actually, due to the controversy of him quitting the competition (but coming back and winning Fan Favorite), he is more notable than even some of the other winners (there were multiple winners this first season.) I was looking into pulling together some sources regarding his time on the show and I hoped it would keep his article around. I'm extremely busy but had hoped I could save this in time. Does this plea warrant putting off the deletion, please? Thanks for being open minded. LoriLee (talk) 20:13, 22 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Winning fan favorite is not nearly enough to make him relevant. Redirecting him until he gets the relevance. --201.38.219.39 (talk) 23:02, 22 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
I have undone the redirection per WP:BRD. My reason is that this particular contestant has been covered in secondary sources more frequently than the other eliminees, e.g., [1], [2], [3]. I think that these and the sources already included in the article are enough to establish his notability. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 21:18, 27 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. And thanks for finding the sources. I'll add them & try to find others. Appreciate it.LoriLee (talk) 11:58, 28 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Don't get me wrong, Cameron was one of my favourites but WP:BLP1E would seem to apply here. The one event referred to in BLP1E is The Glee Project and all of the refs in the article, with the exception of the iTunes listing, refer to The Glee Project. He doesn't seem to meet WP:ENT so there really shouldn't be an article on him. He needs to establish notability independent from the TV program. --AussieLegend (talk) 19:51, 28 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
That was my initial thought. However, BLP1E says: "If reliable sources cover the person only in the context of a single event and if, outside of the event, that person otherwise remains, and is likely to remain, a low-profile individual, we should generally avoid having an article on them. Biographies in these cases can give undue weight to the event and conflict with neutral point of view." I think that Mitchell isn't a completely "low-profile individual" at this point (although I guess it's a little early to tell what might be in store for him now), and I don't think there is a significant bias in the article toward TGP. To be fair, this isn't a strong argument, but it's enough for me to think that he's received enough overall coverage to remain in the spotlight for now. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 01:26, 29 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
+1 to this, and I'll still stand by my opinion that winning Fan Favorite, and $10,000, qualifies under the subjective notability guideline of winning a reality competition. He was notable within the show and did win, so to speak. Though I also admit to being considerably biased in this particular case.LoriLee (talk) 01:30, 29 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Winning fan favourite is still part of the one event. It doesn't establish notability separately. This falls directly under the part of BLP1E that Fetchcomms quoted. --AussieLegend (talk) 01:41, 29 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
I've seen AfDs go both ways for technically two different events that are closely linked together, however, so I'm not actually sure what the convention is for determining a separate "event". /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 14:27, 29 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
I think we have found enough quality articles to declare this kid notable. He had a significant role on a television show, and has plenty of multiple reliable secondary sources (like the New York Times) to qualify for him being notable. He also is regionally famous, basically a Christian rock star in his hometown region of Dallas, Texas. I had no clue who he was until I decided to lend a hand, and I'd call him notable. Looking forward to seeing his article expanded. SarahStierch (talk) 02:19, 1 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
I'm also removing the notability tag. This should be based on him being an Entertainer, not a musician. (talk) 02:21, 1 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
