Untitled
editJust like all 21 institutions (each with own Wikipedia entiry) of the CUNY University system, CUNY TV has a distinct educational mission. And though, it is indeed part of CUNY, this non-commercial cable channel provides local, national and international programming which may not necessarily be relevant with the Wikipedia's 'CUNY' entry. channel not station
editHow is this a TV station? It does not have proper call signs for a US station. CUNY would make it a Canadian station. It is just a channel on WNYE-TV, which is a station. It is not list at Rabbit Ears. Spshu (talk) 20:02, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
- Here is WP station Naming conventions gives the definition of station. Spshu (talk) 16:37, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
Request for discussion
editAgain, this is not a TV station, WNYE-TV is the TV station. CUNY has been cablecasting not broadcasting before being put on WNYE's subchannel. Naming conventions specify the term station for licensed broadcasting entities operating to air transmitters. CUNY does no such thing. While the public or the station may use station as a synonym for what it does, the specific difference between TV station and cable channel clearly places CUNY NY as a cable channel. - Read the first line here: [1] they refer to it as a tv station. I don't understand your need to change something that has been there since the article was created in 2007. If a consensus for your change can be reached this time, I will abide by it. If, as before, there is no consensus, I will continue to leave it as is. BlueboyLI (talk) 21:58, 5 February 2019 (UTC)
- I have read the Cuny.tv about page as I address it above "While the public or the station may use station as a synonym for what it does, the specific difference between TV station and cable channel clearly places CUNY NY as a cable channel." You don't understand the need to correctly change some incorrect to some correct just because it has been incorrect since 2007?!?!? WP telling readers that it is a TV station complete with a broadcast license from the FCC and an assigned over the air channel is incorrect. Spshu (talk) 20:37, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
