Oldest?

The article states that COC Nederland is the oldest existing LGBT organization in the world, but the source it uses to support that notion is COC Nederland's own website. I think it would be better if a less biased source were to be used. Deviantdreamer (talk) 21:18, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

History

Only thirty days after the founding of the Shakespeare Club, on 7 January 1947 a similar initiative called the Louis Couperus Vereniging (Louis Couperus Society) was formed in The Hague. At the end of the same year an other similar organization was founded in Rotterdam. The notion that after Amsterdam the following initiatives where founded as chapters of the Amsterdam initiative, is wrong. Each had it's own articles of association, without any organizational reference to the Amsterdam initiative. The only thing they had in commons organization wise, is that the people involved where part of several local initiatives. People from The Hague where part of founding the Amsterdam initiative and the same vice versa. The COC Nederland history was written from an Amsterdam-centric point of view. Also the original articles of association of the Shakespeare Club, which actually date from after the founding of the initiatives in The Hague and Rotterdam, make no mention of 'chapters' in other cities, nor the Amsterdam initiative being a national initiative. That these local initiatives later united into C.O.C. is a different story. The Wikipedia article has no references to relevant literature. For example, for my information I refer to the books "Den Haag en haar homo's/lesbo's" by Coos Wentholt and Erik Bakker in cooperation with The Hague City Archives, Publisher "De Nieuwe Haagsche", March 1998, ISBN 9072766431. And the book "50 Jaar COC Den Haag" by Erik Bakker and Luc Pruijn, published by "Nederlandse Vereniging tot Integratie van Homoseksualiteit COC afdeling Den Haag", April 1997, ISBN 9090103775.
