Deletion of large section of text edit

I deleted a large section of text, copy and pasted from various places, including this and this blog. --AW (talk) 20:11, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

History edit

The history section of this article relies purely on one sources. That is a book written by a combatant in the Dervish wars, whom cannot be deemed reliable or objective in narrating an accurate record of history during this period. There are limitless scholars and historians who tell a different and contradicting history. Therefore, in order to provide readers a balanced and accurate information, i would recommend that this section should be rewritten. Shirshore (talk) 21:57, 22 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

History edit

The material sources of the Dhulbahante history in Buuhoodle is extremely derogatory and disrespectful i highly recommend that it be removed immediately. This kind of inflammatory language against a people should not be on WikipediaShirshore (talk) 02:25, 14 September 2019 (UTC).Reply

The Douglas Jardine Quote edit

The following quote from Douglas Jardine quote is both inflammatory and derogatory, I feel it's not informative, and it's rather offensive to the people described by the text.

"The most pitiful lot of all fell to certain sections of the Dolbahanta. Ousted from their ancestral grazing grounds by the Mullah's advance and bereft of all their stock, the remnants wandered like veritable Ishmaelites in the Ishaak country, deprived of Asylum and almost all access to the coast."

@Kzl55 you have agreed with me on this previously when I advised that it should be removed from the Dhulbahante article - here. I don't understand why you disagree now?

Thanks, Shirshore (talk) 17:55, 29 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

We agreed that rewording and rephrasing what you find offensive is preferable to blanket removal of relevant sourced content, no? I tried to contextualise the quote to make it clearer that these conditions were applicable to a wider population and not localised to a single clan. After all, one third of the entire population of the protectorate perished during this period. If you still feel after contextualisation that it remains disrespectful feel free to remove the quote text, but please summarise/reword it in a more palatable way. --Kzl55 (talk) 20:53, 29 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Notable residents edit

Not done. People on the list need to be notable. In lists, this typically means that they have their own Wikipedia articles. Also please read WP:COI. – Jonesey95 (talk) 23:17, 17 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Spelling of town edit

Is there an official spelling for the town? Throughout the article the spellings "Buhoodle", "Buuhoodle" and "Buhodle" are used.

Many thanks Jacob300 (talk) 18:53, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps "Buuhoodle" per [1]. --Kzl55 (talk) 21:45, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Siirski, Please stop the disruptive editing, you have been warned! You can't remove sourced content. Furthermore, Buuhoodle is not controlled by Somaliland as explained by the citation provided. If you keep up the disruptive editing you can be blocked. Shirshore (talk) 19:28, 14 June 2021 (UTC) @Shirshore:Wikipedia is not a place to play I'm not removing content but you turn around the pages. --Siirski (talk) 19:36, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Siirski, My contribution was constructive and sourced. I do not intend to play. You claim your edit adheres to WP:NPOV, but it elevates Somaliland's claim over Puntland's - that's not neutral. Shirshore (talk) 19:49, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Shirshore: I am absolutely neutral, and the proof is that I wrote that a city under the control of Puntland state of Somalia.--Siirski (talk) 19:57, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Buuhoodle isn't Somaliland edit

The territory of the Buuhoodle is disputed by the self declared state of Somaliland due to it's claimed inheritance of the former British Somaliland colonial boundaries. This claim however is contested by Somalia's autonomous government of Putland who defacto controls the Buuhoodle district due to the Buuhoodle tribal leaders rejecting Somalilands secession attempts when the formally unified Somali Republic fracture in the early 90s. 2600:387:6:80F:0:0:0:95 (talk) 19:20, 19 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please, don't WP:SPAM. You will not get more attention or consensus spamming on wikipedia. Provide reliable source for your claims and edit the article according exactly to what was wrote in the source provided. Cheers. Carlosguitar (Yes Executor?) 10:23, 25 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Derogatory edit

I have removed abhorrently degrading text under the history section. If anyone holds that this text is constructive and informative to readers in some way please engage here. Thanks, Shirshore (talk) 20:08, 24 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Shirshore,

I have manually reverted this since you removed significant portions of sourced content without any valid explanation. There is nothing degrading about the text but rather sheds light on Dervish raids on the Dhulbahante. Please cease from removing sourced content. Gebagebo (talk) 20:31, 24 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 18 August 2022 edit

The inclusion of Buuhoodle under Somaliland is incorrect and very offensive to the inhabitants. The Somaliland group (Isaaq tribe) have previously attempted to force capture the city through bloodshed but were defeated by the locals(hence the memorial). Please refer to Buuhoodle as part of Somalia rather than Somaliland. 120.22.146.164 (talk) 15:39, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit extended-protected}} template. This is obviously a whole thing. This needs discussion, not edit requests and single postings on the talk page as we see above. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 15:47, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Expert attention needed edit

As I understand it based on a quick browse through this 2015 book by University of Leipzig anthropologist Markus Virgil Hoehne, the city of Buuhoodle lies in a region that is claimed by both Somalia and Somlialand. I have edited the lede sentence of the article to reflect that but the rest of the article still contains contradictory claims about who controls the city. A read-through from someone who understand the region and issues would help. The good part is that the cited sources is freely accessible. Abecedare (talk) 23:12, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Question about Buuhoodle Wiki Edits edit

Hi @Binglebarry, I've noticed that you've reverted recent edits to the Buuhoodle wiki page without providing any sources indicating that Buuhoodle is currently under the control of Somaliland.

Buuhoodle is presently under SSC-Khaatumo administration forces. For confirmation, please refer to this link from SSC-Khaatumo's official Facebook page, documenting Abdikhadir Ahmed Aw-Ali's recent visit to Buuhoodle. Sifeeye (talk) 22:58, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Here is a wiki page on using Facebook as a source of information WP:FACEBOOK

Based on the text above, I think it's acceptable to use the FB link since it's from the official SSC-Khaatumo page and there is no web presence except FB posts and YouTube videos from other sources. Sifeeye (talk) 03:13, 19 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
