Inspiration for lion statue?

edit

Does anyone know the source of artistic inspiration for putting the globe under the lion's paw? The article says it comes from the coat-of-arms for the Netherlands, but there is no globe there--and it looks exactly like the (male) dragon on a traditional Chinese gateway/entrance. Dodgy backstory anent the knoll

edit

Going to delete the following until a citation is found. Also, latter bit of sentence seems somewhat irrelevent and bemuddling.

"The Mound's shape is that of a tumulus of the Belgae, whom Julius Caesar called the bravest of the Gallic tribes"

The 'Lion's Mound' celebrates victory over the 'Lion of Naples'

edit

Has this happenstance been worthy of any mention by historians and others? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7D:411:1600:226:8FF:FEDC:FD74 (talk) 09:17, 23 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
