"Opinions are mixed as to the resulting effects of the implementation of this ideology."

I understand the need to be fair, but I don't see how the opinions are mixed. The current military regime ultimately imprisoned Ne Win and distanced themselves from this ideology. The other side also rejects it. Is there a defender of it out there that can be linked to?--T. Anthony 17:17, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Contradiction / Factual Error

There is a contradiction within the introductory paragraphs of the article.

In the second line: "the 1962 coup d'etat was staged by the military to remove Ne Win from power" In the third paragraph: "The Socialist coup led by Ne Win and the Revolutionary Council (RC) in 1962"

Ne Win became Prime Minister and Head of State of Burma after 1962, so the coup would be led by him, not against him. Made the change. Mhching (talk) 08:22, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for catching that! I meant to say that the another coup, the 1988 coup, removed Ne Win from power. --Hintha(t) 12:10, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
