Dominant clan

edit

I have removed the following sentence from the article: "Burao is predominately controlled by the Habar Yoonis tribe." Occasionally this has been changed to "Habar Jeclo tribe." No one has cited sources to support either claim so I've removed it. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 23:04, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I wonder what made you add it in the first place, since you didn't any proof for your claim —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.48.179.67 (talk) 10:22, 16 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I didn't add it in the first place, and it isn't my claim. Remember, this is a wiki, and dozens of other individuals have edited the article. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 18:30, 16 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

You haven't explained in what way you think the coordinates in the article are erroneous, and they appear to me to be correct. If you still think that there is a problem, please give a clear explanation below, removing "tlc|" from the geodata-check template at the top of this section. population of burco

edit

There is an sourced sentence in the demographics section which says "Burao...has a population of 548,211 according to the (2015) census". Has there been a census in the city or in Somaliland in 2015? if not should it not be removed and replaced with a population firgure from a reliable source, maybe the UNDP population estimate of 2005?Sharm1 (talk) 07:08, 22 July 2017 (UTC) Sharm1 (talk) 07:08, 22 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Population size is incorrect and uses illegitimate source. To be corrected refer to and use the 2005 source. 185.69.144.255 (talk) 12:51, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 14:25, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Third largest city

edit

Hi @Jacob300: I have added a reference which confirms that Burao is the third largest city in Somalia. Hopefully that will suffice.

Also, fyi, the status of Somaliland is not officially confirmed by any international organisation or state — it is recognised to be part of Somalia by all de jure and de facto states alike. Moreover, Somaliland’s self-proclaimed “status” does not restrict this article about the city of Burao. Shirshore (talk) 19:32, 9 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Burao isn't Somalia, though its considered by international community, nevertheless Taipei and tainin city isn't considered the forth or fifth largest city in China mainland but a city in Taiwan. Isxariifshe (talk) 14:32, 10 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Burao isn't a city in Somalia, but it was when Somaliland and Somalia where in a union, and at that time there was no Somalia but a Somali Republic or what we call in our language "Jamhuuriyaddii Soomaaliyeed" since the union broke and Both Somaliland and Somalia chamged their name to what they're today, i suggest the to add the homepage where "burao was the third largest city in somalia" is to something clearer, like "burao was third largest city in Somali Republic" Isxariifshe (talk) 14:29, 10 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
