Recent events in the Playhouse's history.

I have proposed a completely rewritten section "Recent Years": my proposed text is on User:ColinFine/Bradford Playhouse. As I am now the owner of the Playhouse, I obviously have a COI, so will somebody please review my suggestion and edit the article?

I have replaced the text I previously put in this section of the Talk page, as that was only a request that somebody edit it and a few references.

Change of Management - requested COI edit

I would like to change the last paragraph to:

"In July 2014, local theatre enthusiast Colin Fine bought the theatre from the liquidators, with the intention that it continue to be developed as a theatre. Takeover Events & Theatre continued to manage and run the theatre until July 2016, when they stepped back to concentrate on production.[21][22] Megan and Carl Murray, who had been very much involved in managing the theatre, took over its running as Purple Stage Theatres on August 1 2016."

The new citation is

This is a continuation of the portion of this discussion at the Teahouse that concerned the Playhouse, as opposed to the original topic.

You know what, Dan? I removed that single sentence The same fate met other aspects of its existence, such as its theatre school (once presided over by Esme Church and alma mater to actors such as George Layton, Gorden Kaye, Duncan Preston and Billie Whitelaw) such activities became independent of the theatre itself when I rewrote the "Recent Years section in my {{edit request}} in 2014. I don't know precisely why I did that, but probably because it was unreferenced. Also, it was in entirely the wrong section, having been added by Roger.beaumont (who had a WP:COI and should not have been editing the article, but he probably didn't know that) in 2007, possibly as part of a rant about how the structure of the theatre had just been changed.

Again, if you have reliable sources, I'd be glad to do a new {{edit request}} to add it back - I can get some of them from the Esme Church article, so I'll start. But if you want to deposit any other citations you have here, that would be great (I did see where you said you had lost a lot of material over the years). I have at least linked Esme Church to here. If I can get hold of 'The Stage' Yearbook that's cited, and see what it says, I may request adding her to here - but I'd rather see the reference. I notice that Bernard Hepton calls it the "Bradford Civic Playhouse" which is not a combination that we currently have in the article, and I'd like to see what The Stage called it. --ColinFine (talk) 21:16, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

The 1955 edition of The Stage yearbook is available at this archive. It doesn't seem to be available from the Wikipedia Library but WP:RX might be able to get it, or the website itself offers three free pages if you sign up. Mike Turnbull (talk) 12:37, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
