This article was vandalized. I have attempted to put it back the way it was before, but had to go back two edits to do it. DeVeritate 19:13, 1 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

So what were the reforms?

edit

Very little information in this article. We are told the conditions that made reforms necessary, and some effects of the reforms, but we are never told what the reforms actually were. 2001:558:6011:1:10B0:5FF8:FC2A:415C (talk) 04:13, 3 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

I agree that this is a stub article with limited information. The lead says that the reform "focused on restoring the traditional monastic life, encouraging art, and caring for the poor". I am not well informed about the reform on the Continent, but I did a lot of work on the English Benedictine Reform, where it was focussed on replacing secular clerks who were allowed to marry with unmarried monks. Strict obedience to monastic rules and encouragement of art and learning were important but, compared with the secular clergy, caring for the poor and the provision of religious services for the laity were less important.
