Beijing Legation Quarter edit

I have created the article under this name since this the under which the Legation Quarter is known in the West. Even though Dongjiao minxiang is the name of the street running through the area and not the quarter in the strict sense of thr word, I decided to link this article to Dongjiao Minxiang in Chinese Wikipedia, because this makes most sense. I hope this explanation satisfies those who are preoccupied with "exact" translations on Wikipedia. --Niohe 02:36, 4 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Beijing Legation QuarterPeking Legation Quarter – "Peking" is the transliteration used at the time and still the common name in sources: see ngrams. See also: Kievan Rus' (not Kyivan Rus'). BarleyButt (talk) 21:17, 17 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • Support. The historical transliteration should be used if that is still the most commonly used name for a topic. This is the same situation as various historical "Battle of Kiev" articles, which has been discussed previously. Rreagan007 (talk) 22:25, 17 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per nom. No English-language sources called it Beijing at the time. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:39, 24 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
