Hand pump article

This topic seems to be covered under Hand pump, especially since the term is usually applied to hand-activated pumps. This entry may be redundant. If retained, it needs to be harmonised with the Hand pump entry. Rodparkes 01:38, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Picture

While it's nice to see a picture of an elegant pump clip (for a great and now sadly vanished beer), I think the article needs a shot of a handpump as well - can someone please supply this?

intent?

This article is too much about the politics of beers and swans necks and sparklers and north v. south and other such beer politics and very little about the actual beer engine itself. 82.30.172.173 (talk) 11:55, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

I agree. I want to know more about what is and was used to pump the beer. I may already know about generic hand pumps - there are many different kinds, made of different materials, with different behaviors. What do they use for beer? Why prefer one over another? What kind of gas, or electric, pump? What kind of valve?

I wouldn't throw out the material that's here - the symbolism of the pump controls is important in American as well as English bars, I imagine elsewhere also. Likewise different ways of filling glasses and presenting beer, to the extent that the pump affects them. But these details aren't the main point. Temprite?

"Temprite" is a hyperlink to "Beer tap" with no explanation. Temprite is the name of an oil management company but the connection with beer escapes me. Suggestions, anyone?Moletrouser (talk) 13:40, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
