I have amended the article somewhat, and hope I have not made things worse. Most accounts of the ironworks (the exception being Evans) have failed to distinguish the two elements of the works, which were on opposite sides of the river and have separate histories. However it is some years since I did research on this and it is possible that I have added to rather than reducing the confusion. Some of what I have added may be based on manuscript sources, which technically constitute WP:OR, for which I have to apologise. This is the source of the date 1759. I suspect that the 1736 owner was Thomlinson, not Tomlinson, but have not corrected that. Hawkes & Co was a large enterprise, with a number of partners. I suspect that there was continuity in the firm and Gordon and Biddulph were merely the leading partners for a period, but am not sure. Peterkingiron (talk) 18:13, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Longridge and Bedlington Ironworks edit
Were R. B. Longridge and Company and the Bedlington Ironworks the same company? This reference seems to suggest that they were.[1] Biscuittin (talk) 17:51, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
