editThe current title "The Championship at Laguna National" is suboptimal, given that the tournament was only played at Laguna National once. "Ballantine's Championship" would also be bad because Ballantine's didn't sponsor the tournament every year. Would something like "The Championship (golf)" be appropriate? pʰeːnuːmuː → pʰiːnyːmyː → ɸinimi → fiɲimi 20:16, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
- My first thought was that "The Championship (golf)" is an odd name, but http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/season=2014/tournamentid=2014034/news/newsid=220440.html does use that name. Some folk are not keen on articles starting "The", so that may be an issue, too. Nigej (talk) 21:46, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
- Two other options come to mind: 1) Split into 2 - Ballantines (Korea Tour) and the final event (Aisian Tour). 2) Call it Ballantine's Championship since that is the name it had most of the time. For older events this is not unknown. Nigej (talk) 06:53, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
- Yeah I would go along with two separate articles. If the tournament name and location has changed (and no doubt the trophy), it's not the same trophy. Note that the main Singapore newspaper describes the tournament "replacing" the Ballantine's rather than a continuation of it. https://www.straitstimes.com/sport/golf/golf-laguna-national-to-host-spores-1st-marquee-mens-event-in-18-months--Jopal22 (talk) 09:17, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
- the main point against is that the European Tour regard it as one http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/season=2014/tournamentid=2014034/history/index.html although clearly the other two tours wouldn't. Nigej (talk) 10:40, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
- Mm, I was going to say that is just the ET being lazy, and because it had the same organisers and "With the Championship aiming to return to Korea in2015, the event continues to feature both Korean players and to be extensively broadcast in Korea."(http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/season=2014/tournamentid=2014034/news/newsid=220440.html) So I suppose it does feel like one tournament --Jopal22 (talk) 13:01, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
