Tom Cruise edit

Is this the mission that is potentially taking Tom Cruise to the ISS to film some scenes for an upcoming Mission: Impossible film? --184.64.102.148 (talk) 19:31, 31 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Axiom Space edit

Axiom Space has only confirmed one passenger so far. Tom Cruise and Doug Liman are only speculation as of today. Hektor (talk) 10:09, 20 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Axiom space might not have confirmed it, but that's not needed to list them in the article. I don't know the really original source of the references we have, but it could have come from Cruise, Liman or someone close to them for example. --mfb (talk) 22:51, 20 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
I think we are jumping the gun on this one. Well, time will tell. Hektor (talk) 22:40, 21 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Space tourist edit

If it is really Cruise and Liman, semantically, I wonder if space tourist is adequate since they would go to ISS, to shoot a movie, i.e. to work. When Cruise goes to Dubai to shoot Mission: Impossible, you do not call him a tourist. Hektor (talk) 22:47, 21 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

It's an emerging category, I guess. Astronauts fly spacecraft, work on space stations and so on, Cruise/Liman don't do that. Business spaceflight. Someone else was sent up on behalf of a company before. --mfb (talk) 02:11, 23 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
NASA itself is calling this a "Private Astronaut Mission" (PAM) - thus the four of them would be considered Private Astronauts, although the general term for someone who pays a company to take them into space is called a "space tourist" even though they themselves generally don't like that term. A "Spaceflight Participant" is a specific term for those who brokered with a company to fly on a Soyuz with professional cosmonauts to ride to the ISS, but that's not the case for this flight. Wizardimps (talk) 02:29, 25 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Precisely, in this case I doubt Cruise and Liman will pay a company (Axiom) to take them into space ; the mission costs will be paid by the film production company, so for instance maybe Universal Studios or one of their co-producers. It is also very likely that both of them will be paid by the same organization which will pay for their flight. I think in this case Private astronaut would be more accurate. Hektor (talk) 16:00, 27 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
On the "Spaceflight Participant" there are cases of professional astronauts who flew with this label (without have bookered with a private company). Erick Soares3 (talk) 18:52, 24 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Is the same case as everyone here: Cruise and Liman would fly as employers for a private company. Erick Soares3 (talk) 22:07, 8 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Mission patch edit

The Mission patch of Ax-1 has been unveiled. Axiom Space releases patch for Ax-1 crew I suspect that the situation is similar to Inspiration4; it is not a NASA patch so not usable by wikipedia. Hektor (talk) 22:10, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Flag of López-Alegría edit

I changed the flag of López to the Spanish flag and User:Hektor reverted it. At the mission patch you can see that the Spanish flag is associated with López. López is a Spanish-American dual citizen. In my eyes either the Spanish flag should be use or both. But only the USA flag is false. At the offical Mission website both flags are used for López. So we should also use both flags. 🤾‍♂️ Malo95 (talk) 13:03, 19 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • López has been a NASA astronaut so a US citizen for sure (mandatory to be a NASA employee). I found not source about a dual Spanish citizenship. Hektor (talk) 14:13, 19 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
The Axoim website https://www.axiomspace.com/ax1 list him as dual citizen and El Mundo wrote in 2021: "... será el primer español (también tiene nacionalidad estadounidense) ..." in English: "... he will be the first Spaniard (he also has American nationality)..." 🤾‍♂️ Malo95 (talk) 15:26, 19 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
His official portrait have both flags. Erick Soares3 (talk) 12:24, 7 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

No Spanish flag. ~~Mize MizeRW (talk) 12:58, 6 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Fix vertical whitespace in image captions.
  • Fix floating and narrow sections due to large image on marginally narrow screens.

Question: Could you be more specific? I don't understand what you're referring to. Also, what's your conflict of interest? PK650 (talk) 08:00, 9 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

This edit request was actually already implemented quite soon after this edit request was made, in a revision by Pand modium (See here). Therefore, im closing this edit request. Note that I believe there was no COI present, and the requestor simply had no idea of any other way to get the attention of an editor who would know how to fix it. missing Crew Photos edit

most of the bios have photos except for Mark Pathy and John Shoffner. -- 65.92.246.142 (talk) 14:40, 9 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

We are waiting for a Commons friendly picture on the NASA Flickr account. What we have now on the Ax-1 is only copyrighted and a such low quality image that doesn't even worth to crop. The best case scenario will be something like this. Erick Soares3 (talk) 11:34, 10 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
On John Shoffner, we may have something when he flies. Erick Soares3 (talk) 16:15, 10 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Rakia edit
