http://varrioavenues.com/, this website is the avenues official website, so u can update the article.

  • That's just one article. That's their whole website? I couldn't find any secret links or anything.

They've been quite active lately. One of them pulled an AK 47 on LAPD (and lost, of course), and they continue to kill people in Highland Park despite LAPD's excellent work (and LAPD under Bratton is doing a great job).

Major Overhaul - Rewrite

edit

I did a major rewrite of the entire article. I added well needed sections, corrected inaccurate information, added references, citations, corrected the infobox, added images, ect. MzNobody (talk) 22:07, 25 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Terminology

edit

Varrio is an accepted variation of the term Barrio and is more widely used. Barrio was used more in the 1980's and mid 1990's when Varrio become the common reference to neighborhood or one's hood. Thus, either term is relevant but to reflect the changing times it's more appropriate to use the most common terminology; especially here where the goal is to educate the average reader, not necessarily dictate facts repeatedly. Highland park gang

edit

Why isn't there a page on the Highland park gang? The Avenues largest rival?

Highland Park gang started in 1972 as an offshoot of the Undertakers Motorcycle club. It was originally called Baltimore street locos because they hung out around Ave 50 to Ave 53 and Baltimore street. Pep, Romo, Leo and Danny boy started the gang. The first click was the locos, second came Strickland boys (Pewee locos), third was 50 street Chicos, fourth was the Dukes, fifth was The Back street Kings and sixth was the York Boulevard Criminals.

The rivalry with Avenues didn't start until 1981. Avenues outnumbered Highland Park 40 to 1. Other Rivals include Dog Town, MS, Drifters, El Sereno and Varrio NELA.     Highland park's numbers grew tremendously in the early 2000s and by the late 2000s the gang territory grew vast. The three main clicks are Back Street Kings, Dukes, and York Blvd Criminals. As for the Locos, Chicos, and Pewees they were generational clicks, so they stopped recruitment but as for the Dukes, Back Street Kings and York Blvd Criminals they found more success in multigenerational recruitment.

Poor quality map

edit

The location of the Avenues on the map is completely wrong. It shows them in Glassel Park and Glendale instead of Highland Park. It doesn't even intersect AVE 43 and AVE 57, which they're named after. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hackaday (talkcontribs) 18:26, 8 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
