Re-Assessment edit

Nice expansion of this article. Changed WP:Oregon importance to MID because the column is listed on the National Register of Historic Places which should be an automatic qualification for default of MID. C. Williams (talk) 22:38, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Inaccurate Info? edit

The page: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astoria_Column) states that "The first Community Antenna Television (CATV) System in the United States was built in 1949 utilizing the column.[2]"

However, another Wikiedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Walson) states: "John Walson Sr. (1915 – 1993), from Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania, is recognized by the U.S. Congress and the National Cable Television Association as having invented cable TV in the spring of 1948.[1]" (In Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania).

Also note that John Walson Sr. had much more expertise in this field and many more innovations to his credit. Nwgguy (talk) 04:03, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
