Velar fricatives

Nakoda names in Rockies

There are a good dozen Nakoda/Stoney names in the Canadian Rockies, just on the British Columbia-Alberta border, i.e. the Continental Divide. Their name origins in the "comments" column on the linked article/list are as given by BCGNIS. If someone could add the proper Nakoda orthography and the IPA for the origin-word that would be great.Skookum1 (talk) 20:26, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Also to note that the BCGNIS cite for Mount Assiniboine, given on the list page and probably on the mountain article also, contains the origin of the term "Stoney Sioux/Stoney Indians" - "those who use hot stones to cook", and apparently it had to do with camps around the Rockies....Skookum1 (talk) 20:33, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Stoney language redirect?

The main body of the article includes this snippet:

The Assiniboine language is also closely related to the Sioux language and to the Stoney language (called likewise Nakoda or Nakota), although they are hardly mutually intelligible.

Yet, despite Assiniboine and Stoney apparently not being mutually intelligible, the link to Stoney language redirects right here to the Assiniboine language page. (FWIW, the Sioux language link goes to a different page, as expected.)
