OR PUC approves new 458 NPA edit

On October 21, 2008, the Oregon Public Utilities Commission ordered an all services overlay as the relief plan for the 541 NPA and NANPA has assigned the 458 NPA as the relief NPA.

I'll update the article with info + sources shortly.

Correct, and at the activation date in 2010, the article will move to Area codes 541 and 458. CrazyC83 (talk) 20:51, 5 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Central office prefixes in area code 541 edit

The table of Central office prefixes in area code 541 is wrong, at least for most prefixes introduced before Feb 1996. Either all the old area codes that were moved from 503 to 541 would have a creation date of November 5, 1995, for when 541 was created, or their original date when they were created in area code 503. In the second case many of them go back to the 1947. I expect if the prefixes labeled as "introduced" in Jan 10, 1996, were changed to Nov 5, 1995 the table might be correct, but I don't have time to verify this right now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thermocouple (talkcontribs) 22:50, 7 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

These purpose and usefulness of these office code listings are dubious in general, and many offices receive NPA-NXX codes these days outside of their formal numbering plan area boundaries in some places around the country. Furthermore, the NPA-NXX data base by NANPA is incomplete and some dates are just inserted to form a properly formatted date, it seems, or a date at which the record was known to exist. kbrose (talk) 23:36, 7 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
