Two informed pieces with differing analyses - both say ARSA presents itself as an ethno-nationalist movement but the first, from Asia Times, quotes 'experts' who report it has "clear links to foreign extremist groups", while another 'expert' tells the BBC it has "NO substantive links with international jihadism, IS or al-Qaeda".

In the past week there has been an editing conflict, characterised by back and forth reversions of other editors' changes. It is better to discuss the changes here then to start a small-scale "edit war". The changes in question are the inclusions of Pakistan (and their Inter-Services Intelligence) and Lashkar-e-Taiba in the infobox as allies of ARSA.

Two editors seem to oppose this because official confirmation of these alleged links is missing, and there are few sources available that can verify these changes. I myself looked online for sources other than those given, but could not find any reliable ones (i.e. not personal blogs or non-news websites). It's worth nothing that the allegations seem to stem mainly from India, newsites of which cite unnamed Bangladeshi sources. I believe some editors find this alarming as [Indian] "propaganda". Edit warring and dubious claims edit

I have seen a lot of back and forth edit warring over the past months with this page in particular. It is apparent that the few editors responsible are not interested in discussing on this talk page, but I encourage them to do so instead of violating Wikipedia policy. I would also like to remind any editors reading this that claims related to ARSA must be reliably sourced, especially if they are about the group itself. For example, the claim that ARSA is linked to Pakistani intelligence and LeT is insufficiently sourced, and should not be readded without multiple reliable citations. Conversely, if a claim is properly cited, it should not be removed without a valid reason. For example, ARSA being on Malaysia's equivalent of a "terror list" is sourced by a primary document: the list itself. Removing such material without reason can be interpreted as having political motives or a conflict of interest, and is inappropriate conduct. The Predecesscor Organizations of ARSA were Islamists or at least Islamic Nationalist but not secular Organizations so its questionable to clasify this Organitation as a Nationalist Insurgent Group.--Thomas Behringer (talk) 08:54, 10 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

ARSA does not officially have any direct predecessors, nor has anyone alleged such. ARSA can also be both Islamist and nationalist; the recurring issue is that a reliable source is not provided for the assertion that ARSA is Islamist. CentreLeftRight ✉ 00:25, 11 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
