Nonresistance - West Nickel Mines Shooting edit

Would the West Nickel Mines shooting have happened differently if it was a "resistant" culture? The wiki article says it was a guy with a firearm in a schoolroom with unarmed women and children. Would a mainstream American classroom have resisted?
