Horrible French Translation!

edit

Hello, people! The sub-section titled "Pact with the Islamic Prophet" is a horrible French translation of a site. I think someone just put the text through a web translator and pasted the results. AWFUL!

I agree, I couldn't make heads or tails of it. Could someone try to get a better translation?

I fear lots of this has to be cu

edit

This seems a partial translation for a devotional site, with most of the biographical detail cut out, and then translated poorly into english.

I believe he was a great man: it doesn't need to be said in every paragraph!

I'm gonna look at fr:wikipedia, and maybe some secular sources, add a quick bio, then I'll comment out a lot of the religious writing, since I'm not able to assess what should stay and what should go. An Islamic scholar should probably take a look and edit that part.T L Miles 18:47, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I commented out (ie, it's still there) most of the text, untill someone who is knowledgable in Mouride philosophy and history can clean it up. To make it visable, remove the <!-- and --> text.T L Miles 19:15, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
There ended up be nothing on fr:wiki, but a quite good bio on Mouride, which I encorporated and added a bit to. That looks acceptable for the momentT L Miles 20:00, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Future development

edit

I am going to try to reorganize this page to allow for future development and more information, some sections repeat themselves and the reason for the current organization is not always clear.ThomasMannFan (talk) 13:53, 11 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Inconsistent Name Use

edit

Hey everybody, so I was just noticing that the page is entitled "Ahmadou Bamba" with an "h", but "Amadou Bamba" without an "h" is used most of the time in the article. Obviously there are many different spellings that have been used by different people over time, but it seems like the article should pick one spelling and use it throughout. Right now "Amadou" and "Ahmadou" are used alternatingly throughout. I would change it myself, but I'm really not sure which spelling is better or if it even matters.

You are right about that. It should be the one with the H, not the one omitting it. Omitting it is an error. It should also be reverted to its previous redirect page. Refer to the Wolof name for accuracy. DivineReality (talk) 21:07, 1 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Spelling of name

edit

Hello, the correct spelling is Ahmadou Bamba. The Muslim name Ahmad is never spelled Amad. The Wolof version also spells Ahmadou Bamba. DjembeDrums (talk) 16:26, 28 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
