Al-Kharida al-Bahiyya moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Al-Kharida al-Bahiyya, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 01:52, 19 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the pointer. I added some sources and submitted it for review :). DivineReality (talk) 03:11, 19 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia and copyright edit

  Hello DivineReality, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Ad-Dardir have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 22:09, 19 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for the message. That is my own website and the content is not copyrighted. But I'll re-word it, nonetheless, and update it. DivineReality (talk) 15:05, 20 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Your draft article, Draft:Al-Kharida al-Bahiyya edit

Hello, DivineReality. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Al-Kharida al-Bahiyya".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

April 2020 edit

  One of your recent additions has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. — Diannaa (talk) 14:11, 10 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Diannaa: Hi Diannaa. This article is available for download by the public freely online here: https://www.theoasisinitiative.org/publications That should be all you need to undo your deletion, correct? The link is publicly available material. Additionally, there's a number of other books and references in that section, yet you deleted the entire section based on a copyright claim rather than removing a link, which the link itself doesn't violate a copyright claim either anyways. Could you please restore it? If you need an email from the editors themselves, please share your email here and I will ask them to contact you so you can restore it. I don't know of a sentence being copied from a source, but please share it here if there is something problematic so I can update it. to my knowledge, I wrote that in my own words. But please show me what sentence you saw a copyright problem with. At the moment, it's completely deleted and I cannot find out how to access it again to fix the issues you have with it. If there is anything you need specifically to clear up any confusion, please inform me here. Thanks! (Also, I first created it on the Roanoke Colony page, for that page specifically, and figured it also applied to the Islam in America page, but I can author a separate one for that!) Disambiguation link notification for May 10 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Licentiate (degree), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Alexander III (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

January 2024 edit

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Introduction to contentious topics edit

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Acroterion (talk) 01:56, 14 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Acroterion: I see. This was a mistake. I forgot to sign my vote to move the page so I re-edited my own vote in favor of moving the page because it is now 2024 and the page is labeled 2023. Obvious reasons here. I only edited the talk page, not even the main page. The page was the "2023 Israel–Hamas war" where you can easily peruse my simple vote in favor. Please remove this, admins. If you want, you can remove my vote to move the page. DivineReality (talk) 01:59, 14 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

This has nothing to do with a given edit, it is more of a reminder that you're editing in an area that requires particular care in general, where you might not be aware of editing restrictions. Acroterion (talk) 02:04, 14 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I see. Thank you sir. I generally don't edit those pages much anyways, I am not familiar with these notices. Thank you. DivineReality (talk) 02:06, 14 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's why we do them, not everybody knows about the contentious topics regime. Acroterion (talk) 02:08, 14 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your recent article edit

Hi! I was looking at your recent article Ahmad Mashhur al-Haddad, and I wanted to let you know that Wikipedia policy is not to use honorifics after Muhammad's name; see MOS:MUHAMMAD. Wikipedia is a collaborative project edit

To "request that you cease contributing to the page I created" (as you just did on my talk page) is not reasonable on Wikipedia. See: WP:OWN. UrielAcosta (talk) 23:46, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

I didn't ask because I created it. I asked because I think it's far away from your expertise.
