Notability/factuality? edit

Okay, I live in Hawaii and am extremely well-versed in Hawaiian history, but I've never heard of this guy. Not to say that I know it all, but I'm really not at all convinced that Alexander Adams is in any way notable. There was no single founder of "modern Hawaii" and if there was it would be someone like King Kalākaua or the like. This article seems excessively ethnocentric with bold assertions that Caucacians suddenly did more for Hawaii than its own native people. At any rate, I'm leaning towards nominating this article for deletion unless some reliable sources come up showing that any of the assertions in this article are true. —Keakealani 01:07, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, three years later, and finally I will have some time to work on him. He seems to be a good self-promoter if nothing else. There is no earldom of "Fyfe" that I could find, for example. W Nowicki (talk) 04:17, 15 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

The article said he owned 2500 acres in Niu Valley, and that seems to have been passed around on some web pages and even newspaper articles, but in records of the ninetenth century it says he got 290 acres in the Kalihi Valley, so I put that in the article instead. Stll not sure, e.g. see "Son sues father, uncle in fight over Lucas estate". Pacific Business News. March 16, 2007. W Nowicki (talk) 21:04, 17 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

...Two of his marriages were to Sarah Ulukaihonua Harbottle and then to her sister Charlotte Oili Harbottle (died 1893). TO CORRECT:

After 30 years of piloting .....married...

Both were daughters of Papapaupu (or Papapaunauapu, the adopted grand daughter of King Kamehameha) and John Harbottle, another Scotsman serving as Honolulu pilot. INCOMPLETE: CORRECTION TO ADD " ... AND QUEEN KAAHUMANU" after " ...King Kamehameha"  : . CORRECTION: Both were daughters of Papapaupu (or Papapaunauapu, the adopted grand daughter of King Kamehameha AND QUEEN KAAHUMANU) and John Harbottle, another Scotsman serving as Honolulu pilot.

INCORRECT: "another grandson is Nainoa Thompson", who revived the ancient Hawaiian craft of instrumentless navigation and founded the Polynesian Voyaging Society, which sponsors voyages by traditional Hawaiian sailing wa'a (canoes) Hokulea and Hawai'i Loa.

INCORRECT GENERATION: Nainoa Thompson is NOT A GRANDSON; CORRECTION: NAINOA THOMPSON IS A GREAT GRANDSON OF MARY LUCAS.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kaunahauakalani (talkcontribs) 04:57, 30 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

– "Hawaii" is not a standard disambiguator for people. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 06:49, 18 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • Support per nom, this isn't how we typically disambiguate people. PC78 (talk) 11:00, 18 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. Without a doubt none of these people were Hawaiis! -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:42, 18 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
