Advert Tag

@Deb: I have nominated this article for DYK, so I need to address the advert tag. Can you identify which section is considered as an advertisement?–MinisterOfReligion ^(Talk) 08:54, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

I've re-worded much of it, but there is still lots of promotional language. Avoid puffery by removing phrases such as "garnered international acclaim" and "pioneering force" and words like "refined", "applauds" and "boasts". Frankly, most of the "Approach and Execution" needs serious reconsideration. It seems entirely focused on the positive aspects of the magazine and does not comply with the neutral point of view policy. You should be careful to avoid concentrating on primary sources (those written by people with an interest in the magazine). If you have any close connection with the magazine, for example if you are a regular contributor, you must declare it in accordance with Wikipedia:COI. Deb (talk) 09:10, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

In what way is "trailblazer" less biased than "pioneering force"? If anything, it's worse. Deb (talk) 12:22, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

@Deb: The sentence is, "Abdul Samad, a researcher at the University of Madras, recognizes it as a trailblazer in Arabic journalism, notable for its bi-monthly publication frequency." Give me an alternative?–MinisterOfReligion ^(Talk) 16:09, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

Two problems here:

1. By saying he "recognizes it" as a trailblazer, you are reinforcing his subjective opinion and suggesting it is an absolute fact.

2. As almost no one who reads English Wikipedia can read the original Arabic, which you need to quote from in order to back up your statement, you should provide a direct translation. Please give us the precise Arabic word that you are translating as "trailblazer". Deb (talk) 16:23, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
