Incomprehensible sentence

From the article: "Almanzor had a great influence in Subh, ruler as mother the young Hisham II." If I had to guess, I'd assume this means "Almanzor had a great influence over Subh, mother the young Hisham II, who functioned as regent." But maybe it means something else, and I'm not going to edit without knowledge.
