prod? edit

I left a note on the talk page of the person who left a {{prod}} on this article. I had questions about their use of WP:COATRACK as a justification for deletion.

I pointed out that it was just an essay.

I questioned the value of simply stating COATRACK when the essay doesn't encourage deletion, except

In extreme cases, when the nominal subject is barely notable and there is little chance the article can be salvaged, deletion of the entire article may be appropriate.

I stated the opinion that there was no discussion, here on the talk page, to show anyone had suggested this was an extreme case.

That user responded that wikipedians were entitled to nominate articles for deletion for any reason, citing: WP:PROD and WP:DEL#REASON. They addied:

I would just remind you that Wikipedia is not a soapbox.

I hope that they will return here and offer a more helpful description of their ocncern(s). In particular I hope they can explain what triggered their soapbox comment.

responsible use of tags... edit

Someone placed an {{npov}} tag on this article. That tag, when instantiated, tells readers to look at the talk pag for an explanation for the tag. But the individual who placed this tag did not leave an explanation.

I am going to wait a reasonable amount of time, and then remove the abandoned tag. Geo Swan (talk) 18:56, 23 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
