Just in case anyone thinks this is a copyvio from [1], I wrote that several years ago.--Rogerd 03:29, August 30, 2005 (UTC)

A good start. I've added a Plot section that I reconstructed from my own memory of my many viewings of this suprisingly enjoyable film.--Temlakos 16:24, 7 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Aircraft ID

edit

Recently, User:63.3.14.130 complained in the article that the aircraft featured in the arrival of "Happy Jack" Kirby should have been a DC-3. I agreed and edited the article. In retrospect, given the era, a DC-3 would have been unlikely. (A DC-3 did land at the beginning of Strategic Air Command (film)). I don't think the aircraft ID is critical to the plot and have removed refs to both types of aircraft until we get some resolution.--Jim in Georgia Contribs Talk 19:34, 13 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wrong Wing?

edit

The film may have been released in 1963, but wasn't filming at Beale done in 1962? That would have meant that the units at Beale were under the 4126th Strategic Wing. Universal paid for a swimming pool at the alert facility at the end of the runway (personal knowledge on my part, but if anyone can confirm from a reliable source it could be added to the section on SAC cooperation.) --Lineagegeek (talk) 21:24, 12 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

All true, but since the film was not released until June 1963, by which time the 4126th SAW had been relegated to history, and the equipment and many of the personnel were still with the 456th at Beale, the attribution to the latter makes more sense.--Reedmalloy (talk) 15:42, 28 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
