New image edit

Can anyone find an image that is open to use? I've asked a few people that made videos about the 7000's to use the thumbnails, unedited, but have gotten no response. The current image is non existent, and I don't want to go back to the render, its dated. Flippyiskilling (talk) 08:35, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

I can't find any on Wikimedia Commons. I looked all around. Hopefully, an image of one will be available. WorldWarIIIIIIII (talk) 06:40, 5 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Searched Flickr, and I can't find any free examples either. See if anyone from Wikimedia Commons who lives in or near Chicago is willing to snap a few shots of the new fleet, both inside and outside. Davidng913 (talk) 15:20, 12 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Flippyiskilling, WorldWarIIIIIIII, Davidng913: This has a Commons file request from 5 April (c:COM:PR#Chicago L 7000 series train), no luck on Flickr on my end as well. We could use a fair-use image for now, or we could put an image request on the talk page. Asking on the Wikimedia Discord if anyone can snap a picture to upload. WorldWarIIIIIIII, WorldWarIIIIIIII, Sennecaster: I can see if I can get a person who has recorded a 7000 before as a video if wiki commons can use the thumbnail, with no editing. If he says yes, I need to learn how to upload, and make it fair use. Lets hope this will work. Flippyiskilling (talk) 21:49, 20 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Flippyiskilling: The easiest way to go about this is to ask the video uploader to release the work into either the public domain or under a compatible license, as listed in Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission, or to wait to see if someone can take a picture itself. I'm going to put an image request up on the talk header either way, in case the ongoing image contest is able to help. Sennecaster (What now?) 22:21, 20 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Sennecaster: I've got a photo that i have permission to put here. Just trying to find out how to upload. Flippyiskilling (talk) 22:31, 20 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Flippyiskilling Use the Upload Wizard. If it has a compatible free license use Wikimedia Commons. If it’s not free you must use the Wikipedia wizard. Note that if the file is not free it’s probably not going to last very long as it’s technically now possible for someone to make a free file of the train for Commons. If you did get permission then state which license the author wants us to use. Hope that helps. Let me know if you need additional tips. Davidng913 (talk) 01:45, 21 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Options Update edit

Glazing over the RTA data dashboard this friday evening and it seems the CTA is only going to go for up to 256 of the possible 446 options. Nothing is confirmed of course until they announce anything, but I thought it was a useful anecdote. Also here is some info on the 9000 order (300 base and 246 options).
